well it's more like thieving in the VALLEY, as in Silicon Valley Bank.

2023 just went from a proceed with caution year for investing to a head for hills and take cover year.....never mind sell in may and go away, get out now if you can . If you are under 40 you can ride it out, keep reinvesting dividends and enjoy an 18 month discount on stocks...but if you are over 50 , you should consider the safe haven of Money Market and T-Bills and collect your 3.5-5% over the coming 2 years.......i won't be selling my clue chips of JPM or XOM , but i will continue to move some small fish to core , and in reality i am less than 2 years from Le Boca Vista , so i doubt i will reenter the market with most of those funds...

We are coming up on the 1 year mark since the Fed started raising rates, the impact of those rate hikes are not usually felt for 12 months....Inflation has not really retreated since the higher rates, mainly because the Govt Keeps spending, spending, spending......this summer could be a blood bath. I will be shocked if we do not see a significant hit in the commercial real estate market. The cities are unsafe and nobody wants to go back to the office....last month i had to be in the office 5 straight days......i brought lunch from home everyday and never left the building.....I stopped in Shop Rite on my way to the train and picked up 6 pints each night...gone are the days of 2 or 3 lunches a week in the bars and restaurants ( a lot of the bars do not even open until 4:00) nobody is going to the food courts or even Dunkin Donuts in the morning.

Credit Card debt may be the next big story....as more and more people see the minimum payment rise , they will eventually realize they are paying twice as much as last summer just to meet the interest.(the balances will not go down) eventually these folks will say eff it and just default.

Gas is of course going to shoot well over $100 a barrel. Nothing has been even agreed upon to increase our production. and so as China continues to open up and the full impact of sanctions on Russian oil are felt , well ; you get the idea.

Back to Silicon Valley Bank.....what happens next ?

The Govt has been spending money at a dangerous clip the past 2 years , how much more debt can they assume to bail out SVB ?  the expectation now is that the Fed is begging someone/anyone in the private banking sector to Take over SVB and guarantee all client deposits. If I am the Chairman of Chase, Citi, Wells etc ......i make Pocahontas Elizabeth Warren publicly beg for my help and take back all her mean girl comments about the banking industry.

as a Wells fargo stockholder i hope they do not lift a finger for this bailout.....the left has been attacking this bank , calling them Racists , sexist etc etc for the last 5 years......how hypocritical of them to now accept help from the Devil himself.....go ask Big Paulie Pelosi for a loan, the King of Insider Trading can surely lend a hand.

Doctors in California were threatened with the loss of their medical licenses if they talked about or promoted the Lab Leak theory.

in February of 2023 the FBI admitted/concluded that the origins for Covid were indeed from a LAB LEAK in Wuhan China.

as this shortest of months draws to a close i can't help but feel a little cheated by this Black History stuff.

I have been sitting on the edge of my couch and listening to every kernel of information about this wonderful species of the African -American. It seems the finest doctors and wisest lawyers and the best Chefs, were all African American. They singlehandedly won world war 2 while accepting no credit, they owned Central Park before the white man stole it and they  wrote all the best movies and songs in American History. I am wondering when during these last 2 days of the month they explain how and when this species was wiped off the earth and replaced with the modern day Shine ?  you know, the gun totin, turnstile jumpin, drug dealing, wife beating, welfare collecting sloth that immediately poisons and destroys every neighborhood he graces. don't spoil it for me, i am excited to see how this plays out.

seriously though....it is disturbing to see how demeaning society is towards the blacks . I wonder if deep down they realize that or even care. Today's white America trips over itself trying to find a black person that they can shower with praise for any reason. This morning on local news was a story about the fire Departments in Northern Jersey that held a special dinner to honor all of the Fire chiefs who were black. No specific deeds of heroism were mentioned or honored....just skin Color. It's as if society is saying that we think so little of your ability, initiative and intelligence that we are stunned when we find one or two of you actually assimilating into society and become productive members of the human race.....stop the presses, let's hold a dinner in his honor.......amazing.

For those who only observed him and did not engage in conversation with him...well....he probably seemed to be maniacal creature of the night......hopping on and off the train at a different stop every night . For those who knew him it was a carefully planned voyage, matriculating down the coastline and taking brief respites in the taverns along the way.(depending on whom was tending bar on that given day of the week). Some may have thought him to be homeless when he plopped down 4 or 5 bags and countless newspapers in a 4 seater "apartment" on the train and proceed to crack a beer, pour it into his Thermos and open the NY Times. Some may have thought him to be a simpleton or deranged when he would spend a 90-minute ride talking in his Ronal Reagen Voice. I had the good luck or misfortune to ride the train with him on Christmas Eve 4 or 5 years in a row.....that was a different Jim, reflective on his life, his childhood, his deceased parents and his siblings.....he let his guard down and would speak openly and i could see the wheels spinning.....the other 364 days of the year he was smart enough to know that nobody cared....and he was just crazy enough to entertain a trainload of angry commuters.

He attended one of my BBQ's once....he only stayed an hour........he had his own beers in his knapsack and was drinking out his thermos.....i won't remember him any other way.

14 or 15 Dead whales now have washed up on the Jersey coast since December. The most recent one was Monday morning in Manasquan. The best explanation is the ships that are conducting surveys of the Ocean floor for an upcoming wind turbine project. Apparently these ships are shooting sound waves into the Ocean floor to determine depth of the sand base. These sound waves are jamming and disorienting the Whales ability to hear. The whales are then unable to avoid ships in the area. 

I ask two questions ?

Where is Green Peace and the Millions of other environmental /animal rights groups? Are they consciously sacrificing whales for what they deem as the greater good of wind powered energy?

How differently would the media be covering this story if the wind mills were a President Trump initiative? 

On Feb 3rd 50 train cars derailed near Palestine Ohio. 11 of these cars were carrying highly toxic/cancer causing chemicals. ( including highly toxic vinyl chloride and hydrogen chloride )                    Officials evacuated 100 people that lived in the immediate area on Feb 6th and then conducted a "controlled" release of those chemicals into the atmosphere to avoid a catastrophic explosion. On Feb 11 residents were allowed to return to their homes. Over the weekend local farmers reported that chickens and Foxes were dropping Dead and residents were returning home to find dead fish in the fish tanks. Dead animals have been reported well outside the original containment site. Mayor Pete Buttplug and the white house administration has been invisible on this issue.

I ask two familiar questions.

Where are the environmentalists on this, where are the demonstrations, protests and marches? 

How differently would the media be covering this story if there was a Republican POTUS and Transportation Secretary?

He was on a suicide mission to takeout as many skaters as possible (did someone order takeout?) Thankfully he fell into my trap and was operating under a fake dossier with aged documents that showed Sweater Nite would be held at the LieF .....when he saw that only Mike Gallagher was in attendance, he realized he had been duped and then jumped the curb and made a Beeline towards PC's. 

After a brief consultation would our security team of Cleary, Cleary and Cleary (aka Cleary, Cleary and Cleary) we have decided to change the password to gain entry to Chick Peas .......

so a 14-year-old girl was bullied unmercifully in Bayville NJ by her fellow students. One recent incident was captured on film and shared on social media, the young girl was walking down the hallway when she had a milkshake thrown in her face and then was kicked, punched and knocked to the floor of the school...this weekend she took her own life.

The students...the same group that either bullied her or shared the "funny" video of her being bullied or the ones that stood by and did absolutely nothing . ...they staged a WALK OUT of school for the TV cameras......transparent hypocrisy was on full display as these "kids" blamed the school for not calling the Police and stopping the bullying.......classic deflection.....i'm a guilty piece of shit, but it's the school cops, society or fill in the blanks fault for not stopping ME......and the video of these privileged inbred losers mugging it up for the cameras is equally disturbing.....they couldn't give a rats ass about their dead classmate...they were too excited that a TV camera from the big city was in their little town .......because at the end of the day in 2023 it's ALWAYS someone else's fault.........never forget how occupy wall street launched the theory that it was the banks fault for lending students tution money in the first place that lead to the student loan crisis..........and who started that movement ?  the tenured professors that raked in 6 and 7 figure salaries as tuition rose through the stratosphere. We survived another season of frost , we start to dress lighter and walk faster...the sun hangs on the horizon a wee bit longer and dare i say...we start contemplating packing a cardboard box full of beeer and ice and heading to the Park (or 76th street stairs) on the cusp of a season, the precipice of a party, we know that March can bring cruel temps and unusual snow, but we know what lies ahead in the near future.....open the windows, crank the stereo and crack a Beer.

it was very tough to watch the dying breaths of Tyre Nicholls. Nobody deserves to be beaten to death in the road by anyone, let alone authority. Five extremely aggressive bullies with badges beat a 29-year-old man to death after a traffic stop. The most devout amongst us would be left to question whether God does exist after watching this video. How did it come to this, where did this anger and lack of respect for life originate. Certainly these 5 officers did not feel that Tyre was a child of the same God they worship. As he lay bleeding, pepper sprayed, punched, kicked in the face and battered by batons, he cries out for his Moma........her house was less than 100 yards away. In the days, week or months ahead there will be plenty of time to review and analyze this incident....but today i'm just going to say a prayer for his Mom and his son.

Congressman Santos?  this guy is an absolut piece of work....too much to recap, his list of lies, fabrications and inventions are impressive....he has learnt the most valuable lesson in politics...say anything and deny everything. i did catch an interview he did with a podcast where he was speaking Portuguese and he claimed to have survived an assassination attempt in Florida (he didn't elaborate as to who was trying to kill him) and that he was mugged at 3:00 p.m. in NYC and they (the bad guys) took his watch and his shoes .....i'm unclear if that means something significant in the spanish culture o if this guy was just on shrooms. ( if i lived in Nasau county i would have voted for Keith Corbett instead of Santos)

Today is on the of those days that we have to hope and pray that school aged delinquents are too busy with Tik Tok to study history. NY State has granted a license to legally sell marijuana in Greenwich village on Bleeker street to man with multiple marijuana convictions (including a stint in prison). The problem with this is that this person was selected because of his past, not in spite of it. We can talk all day about second chances, and i am in favor of forgiving low level offenses for possession, but NY is going out of their way and crossing a double line to reward someone that knowingly, and repeatedly broke the law. If you want to set aside a % of licenses for minorities ? ok.........If you want to forgive people that received a summons for smoking a joint? OK......if you want to recruit people that went to jail for dealing drugs to kids and reward them with a golden ticket/license ??   yeah, well like i said , let's hope our impressionable youth are distracted.

In addittion to Connor Bedard ( the consensus #1) will be 39 other players that could make a difference to any NHL roster at the moment. take a seat, crack a Molson and enjoy the game.

As i watch the long-range forecast on the chucklehead news, i can't help but think this historic snow drought will come to an end in glorious fashion with a historic blizzard on Sweater Nite (aka Presidents weekend) Fear not, we have drank in the snow before and will not be deterred. I spent more than a few afternoons of a great white out with Dano drinking in the Bean Post and gazing out onto 5th ave and watching the good people of Bayridge struggle with crossing the snow drifts of 5th ave. Something about a storm that brings out the inner drinker in everyone, I remember i was home on leave when Hurricane Gloria came ashore in 1985....spent the day in Slapsticks ...bar was packed.....jukebox was a big hit with songs like Dylans' Hurricane & Hard Rain, Creedence who'll stop the rain and have you ever seen rain, Neils Like a Hurricane, G-L-O-R-I-A multiple versions....(.even Laura Branigans silly song got a rebirth) . So we will have to get kraken with a snowstorm play list.

Big Govt loves to vilify the private sector but the facts are the facts. I am required to take lengthy training twice a year on how to first classify every internal document ( Classified, Confidential, Public etc etc) and more importantly how to handle or dispose of these documents. We also fire people in the private sector for lying on a resume or application for employment and we are still subject to random urinalysis test to make sure we are not high on drugs while we handle your retirement savings.

It explains how the Sleepy Floyd protests turned into riots in a flash, all while talking heads from CNN stood in front of burning buildings and said it was "mainly" peaceful.  it makes me wonder what is worse....an uninformed public or a misinformed public.

the more we dig, the more we unearth. Disappointing scuttlebutt out of Annapolis now tells a tale of shame (if it's accurate). The story i have been hearing is that Coach Ken was fired in the locker room after an emotional double OT loss to Army....that's unacceptable for a Coach who carried himself with dignity for 15 years and never put the Academy or his players in an embarrassing light. The story goes that Chet Gladchuck marched into the locker room and fired Coach Niumatalolo within earshot of his players....that's bush league Steinbrenner / Jerry Jones crap....we are better than that. To add insult to injury Coach Ken pleaded for 1 more year.....offered to coach for Free, and to voluntarily resign after next season if they didn't want him back....he felt the team was finally coming out of the pandemic and was on the doorstep of a return to glory. ( I stated here that the team played bad in Sept, better in October and flawless in November, i too felt they were heading in the right direction) AD Gladchuck did not agree.

The pushback was fast...a petition was started this past week to FIRE Gladchuck and Reinstate Coach Ken , after 3 says it had 4,000 signatures...Chet, fearing backlash tried to say that this was building over 4 or 5 years and had nothing to do with the loss to Army....but the truth is he would never have been able to Fire the Coach after a WIN over Army.....so that begs the question....was Chet rooting against the Mids so he could justify firing coach K ? at the end of the 2015 Season the Coach, a devout Mormon; took an interview at Brigham Young.....he later withdrew from consideration for the job....but i believe the damage was done.....and Chet just waited until the Coach was down and out to kick him in the stomach.

Coach Ken Niumatalolo has been relieved of his duties as Head Football Coach at the Naval Acadamy.....15 years at the Helm, the winningest coach in Academy History,11 bowl appearance and  6 bowl victories, 6 Commander in Chief Trophy's and 11 wins and 5 losses verse Army.........but 3 straight losing seasons and double overtime loss to the Cadets of Army.....(2-5 verse Army in the last 7 years)....was he another victim of the pandemic ? the option offense takes extensive practice and is all about timing and quite frankly it was not clicking since 2019....but thanks for the Incredible Run Coach Ken...God Speed and following seas.

strange timing too......10 months in confinement....9 months after we implored the rest of the free world to isolate Russia because of Ukraine and stop buying oil....8 months after sleepy jo vowed to get her back, a full month after the election...why now?

another ugly chapter of hypocrisy in the destruction of a distracted nation. among the litany of egregious acts surrounding this prisoner swap was the laughable revelation by the WNBA Commissioner that the White House briefed her last week and said the swap meetings were intensifying and an exchange was imminent....i guess as commissioner of the WNBA she has a NEED TO KNOW.....and the lesbian wife in the white house for a video Op of the moment Joe said she's free .....that has Netflix documentary written all over it.

seriously though, just when you thought this administration could not possibly get dumber than they were a day prior...they one-up themselves. A bizarre story broke yesterday about Air Marshals being taken off planes, that's actually what their job description reads ( to ride commercial air traffic as an undercover agent) and they are being sent to the BORDER......no no no, not to perform duties in line with their policing background, but rather to perform menial tasks and assist the illegal immigrants crossing the border. A few Air Marshals spoke with Fox news and said they were ordered to take out trash, help illegals getting checked in at the border and driving injured illegals to medical facilities ......i swear that i wish this was the Onion and I was only joking....but it's true......so now as we approach the busy holiday travel season , securities experts are projecting that less than 10% of all flights will have an Air Marshall on board......makes you wonder if Mayorkas is hoping for a terrorist attack.

i remember a conversation i had with a few close friends in a tavern in the aftermath of 9/11....i was the only one in the group opposed to the Patriot Act....it would have been easy to go with the flow and support the sweeping evaporation of our freedoms in an effort to prevent another attack , but i warned/reminded my cohorts that George Bush would not be President for life and his Administration would be replaced.....and all the powers we handed over to that sitting President would be given to all his successors.....and sadly a short 20+ years later our HOMELAND SECURITY is now the Biggest Threat to , well, homeland security.........sing it Stevie
