i count my blessings that in my travels with the Navy, i was able to visit Jerusalem ......they didn't have great night life or strip clubs, but it still the most amazing place i ever visited in person. It felt as though you were walking through a history textbook......as though 2,000 years later very little had changed....we visited the wailing Wall and i inserted my special intentions on a piece of scrap paper.....i simply wrote " A New York Rangers Stanley Cup in my lifetime" and stuffed it into the wall along with the thousands of tourists who were praying for loved ones and family....that was in May or June of 1988.

we also visited the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth.....the photo above is the simple scripture at the entrance....i had to pinch myself to ensure it was not a dream and to confirm i was really standing there...in the very tomb......it was surreal.

As our tour bus packed with military personnel rolled out of Jerusalem, a group of palistinian thugs were standing on the side of the road and began pelting our bus with objects.....one them shattered the glass window and someone shouted that it was a grenade......i was in the last row of the bus with my Buddy Ray Smalls and we were sharing a bottle of Jack and a bag of Mccabe Beers.....Ray was a big Dude and there was no way we could fit under the seats , so we just put our hands in front of our faces and i closed my eyes...lol.....as if that would help....i can laugh now, but for a split second i did think i was gonna die ( fist of many , many times to come)........thankfully the sand jiggs could only afford to throw rocks.....they shattered 2 or 3 windows and our Israeli bus driver barely acknowledged it.......we drove a few miles and then he pulled over and taped cardboard to the broken windows....he was more concerned about loosing our air conditioning in the blistering heat then was about a terrorist attack....everyday life for an Israeli i suppose...........anyway today i drank cold beer and listen to Dylan and i am pretty confident that those palistinian punks are rotting in hell with allah and the other goatfucker pedophiles.......oh, and more importantly ....Jesus of Nazareth or his Dad delivered the 2nd Messiah, Mark Messier to 33rd and 8th Ave....and the rest is beautiful history.

Today we prepare to celebrate to greatest comeback in the history of mans time on the planet, the ultimate comeback story; the rising from the Dead by Jesus of Nazareth.

I have chosen today to look hard for that silver lining, and after quite a bit of pondering i think it may be out there. we often talk about that giant pendulum that swings from one extreme to the other. I think the long decline that started with political correctness and graduated to DEI , has swung as far left as it can go......and i am starting to feel the gravitational pull back to the center (and hopefully the right).

America may be preoccupied and distracted. America may be naïve and willfully ignorant at times on certain issues, but at our core still lies the ability to detect and see through bullshit....even if we don't want to.

This country will never be united again, we are two polar opposites with a shrinking center...(part of the socialist playbook, but we've been over all that) I often hear people talk about how united we were on September 12th 2001......but i disagree......i remember almost immediately afterwards the simpleton extremists insisting that President Bush and Israel were behind the attacks because we needed an excuse to steal Iraq's oil.  Conspiracy theorists will always exist, there's big money in that business...... i harbor no ill will towards them and/or the networks & platforms that allowed them to voice their hurtful opinions. This is America, we cherish free speech....allow everyone to voice their side of the subject and then debunk the nonsense. A lot of people were eager to jump on board and embrace the theory that we partnered with Israel to attack our own....and i will never be united with those people. (these are the same people that swore on their bibles that Bush planted dynamite in the New Orleans levees so the white devils could steal their homes) 20 years later they are still mired in the mosquito swamps....no redevelopment, no gentrification, just louie farakhan and gonorrhea laced drinking water.

I think historians may look back on the events of March 2024 and conclude that this was the point that the pendulum back to swing back. In no particular order, the Border, the illegal migrant murders and crime, The Fani Willis mockery, the Queen Laticia gloating over potentially seizing private property( Trump Tower) over a victimless crime, and the ongoing Biden Crime Family revelations, the administration demonizing the Supreme Court (abortion) and ignoring their rulings (Student loan)  even the collapse of the Key Bridge has contributed to our standing as an emerging banana Republic.

And now the senseless murder of Jonathan Diller on main street USA in broad daylight by a thug with 21 prior arrests that has no fear of prosecution and no respect for human life. 

The optic that may go down in history when all these beans are counted...on Thursday Evening Donald Trump attended PO Diller's wake with the blessings of his widow and family. On Thursday President Biden gathered with old pals Barry Hussein and accused pedophile Bill Clinton at Radio City....they were cheered by a packed House that paid $500,000 for the privileges to attend.

On Friday Queen Laticia asked to speak at the wake and was told NO.

On Friday Kathy Hochul showed up at the wake during the private friends and family session and had an uncomfortable exchange with the family of the deceased.....reports are unclear on whether she was allowed inside the funeral home or not....but the video clearly shows here being ushered out by her Law Enforcement detail....and she looks unhappy with her tail between her legs.

is this the line in the sand ? i mean a true line...not the meaningless ones that the great Spoonjiah drew on the deserts of Syria.

I think the tide has turned....i think a Tsunami of common sense is coming....i may be drunk with false optimism but i do believe middle America is starting to find it's voice again and suddenly is willing to speak truth in the light of day . .....at least i fargin hope so........I am not declaring victory , but i can sense a summer of peaceful revolution.....a grassroots movement to fight for this country and restore values.....if not now, probably never.

there is a commercial for a product/company by the name of Grammarly........a seemingly innocent software company that sells an APP that will review emails or word docs for spelling and grammar errors.....ok.....it also promises to provide clarity, engagement, punctuation and can detect plagiarism and suggest replacements.

That's a nice mission statement......may i suggest an alternative pitch to Corporate America ?

Since you insist on hiring and promoting illiterate and unqualified people that fit into your nice Diversity , Equity and Inclusion program....well then you need an APP like Grammarly to turn their ghetto jibberrish or blonde waif musings into something that make sense. It offers choices like "Sound Confident" or "Casual but Affirmative"...…sprinkle in some chatBT research, clean it up on Grammarly and suddenly stymie is a rising star...….the trouble is that behind the APP, he still doesn't KNOW what he's typing or saying.

This product was born out of necessity...never before in the history of the planet has an education been this devalued. Corporate America is playing a game of Blind Mans Bluff......willfully hiring and promoting people based solely on their gender or skin color...putting square black, gay, female pegs into round holes...they are discarding merit based promotions because they don't like those results...they are walking like a blind man towards the cliff....hoping and praying the AI will bail them out or that they will escape with their parachute of gold before the whole van sails over the edge. When i started on Wall Street you had do math quickly in your head and you had memorize rules and regulations..those that worked the hardest, longest, and fastest rose to the top....the street was dominated by white males of Irish-Italian-German-Norwegian descent......today those same white males are viewed as the Devils....not only do they not appreciate our knowledge, experience and willingness to run through a wall or work 18 hours to ensure the job gets done right....they actually resent it. We are demonized for talking sports, cursing, admiring pretty females and if all else fails...they go after our TONE.

I shouldn't really pick on poor stymie....truth be told there are very few African American males on Wall street........Black and Arabic females however are everywhere.....and HR is giddy that they check two boxes.....not all, but some have no desire to learn the job........they all want to be the Chief and nobody wants to start out as a lowly Indian.....even the Indians don't want to be Indians... and the AWFUL's run HR.....if you are not familiar with the term an awful is an  Affluent-White-Female-Ultra Liberal.....and they are hellbent on easing their guilty conscious by kneeling before migrants and begging for forgiveness....they despise white men who have the nerve to speak the truth and sometimes speak it loudly....and a lot of middle management white men tuck their tails between their legs and act as bobbleheads.....they agree with everything the AWFUL's feed them.....i'm so lucky and grateful to be in Ron Turcotte mode.......as i told my new department head in our first meeting.....i said "I'm in the middle of the home stretch at Belmont, i have a 32 length lead and i am galloping out the final furlough, and i can't help but sneak a peak behind me".............needless to say he was speechless and we haven't spoken much since that day last September........I wanted to be crystal clear to this guy......don't waste your time getting to know me, i'll be gone at the mornings light....truth be told i DID think i was getting a buyout this month.....and now it looks like i have to stick around another year....oh well......at least this 40 year old superstar won't include me in his narcissistic rambling meetings ....i don't think i could keep my mouth shut for that long.

Schumer suggested Israel should hold elections to chose new leadership. This in an act of interference in a foreign nations government. It doesn't matter if they pray to the same God, Chuck Schumer is a United States Senator meddling in the affairs of the Israeli Government....he does not speak for the US...he is not our President or Secretary of State. When Netanyahu eventually crushes Hamas and levels Ghaza, he should bring charges against the NY Schmuck.

I still remember the fist time i saw him...i was drinking a cold beer in 102 schoolyard on a seasonably warm good Friday afternoon.....1977 or 78........he was standing in Centerfield with a glove and a backwards baseball cap....chatting up a few girls outside the fence on the 71st street side .........suddenly there was the crack of the bat and he was off in a flash, darting to the base of the wall to make a running catch and then throwing an underhand flip of a strike to the 2nd baseman without breaking stride...and barely pausing the conversation. I asked my compatriots of the day , Steve Mac and Dano; who was that guy.......that's Billy Rohls Brother came the response.....Hari Rohl....for the next 15 or 20 minutes i was fixated on watching this happy go lucky guy.......anyone and everyone who passed the schoolyard would call out his name and he would wave.....carrying on multiple conversations and somehow paying enough attention to the game to catch every fly ball that came his way...patrolling centerfield like Willie Mays.....a modern day Neal Cassady ...a cool cat in a circus of chaos that was Bayridge and the annual Sneaker-Bomber game....he was a legend.

A few months later i was in  my yard shooting hoops, trying to emulate Bob Mcadoo and or Pete Maravich with crazy trick shots and long range jumpers......and my new neighbor told me to work on the fundamentals....work on your foul shooting he joked over the fence....and the guy standing next to him was the now familiar Hari Rohl ( His Brother Rob had bought the house next door to my parents on 76th street). I couldn't wait to share the news with my friends....over the next 10 years or so there were some occasions where my parents were preoccupied with work or something and we'd have the back porch to ourselves for a 2 hour beerfest. Dano would always find his way to the fence and he would call out Robbie's name as if we were ringing the bell and calling for a friend....keep in mind Robbie was about 15 years older than us, a married father of 3 and school teacher to boot....didn't stop us from trying to lure him across the fence for a cold beer.

Over the next few decades i became very good friends with Hari.....we'd share quite a few glasses of beer over the years, whether it be at the beer truck after a 5k or an early happy hour sports chat at  Lynch's, The Brooklyn Dodger -Salty Dog, P&C's or the park bench at 72nd and Shore Road. He would love it if you asked him about a ball player that was before your time, but someone that Hari had seen play....he would light up and talk in detail about his sports idols from the 60's......not professionals...usually a High School legend or Small College prodigy...and it didn't matter if we had the same conversation the prior Thursday.

I didn't see him as often as i would have liked over the last 5 years, but we stayed in touch on email....he would always find great stories about Brooklynites or funny anecdotes about Bayridge......he had a distribution list of about 30-50 names and it was an honor to be included. I kept telling him that i was getting close to retirement and was looking forward to visiting , if not moving to Florida. It breaks my heart to learn that he passed away yesterday at the age of 73......I hope it was quick and painless, hopefully in his sleep.....i hope he is chatting with his brother and Dano tonight at an early happy hour and talking about Lou Brock.

Much has been made of the DA in Maricopa County AZ refusing to extradite a murder suspect back to NY. The reason for the refusal was because the suspect, Raad Alamsori;  was also arrested in AZ  for an attempted murder. The AZ DA said that Fat Alvin Braggs reputation as being soft-on-crime, lead her to decide against extradition. The Manhattan DA, who normally sleepwalks through his pursuit of criminals and rarely shows a pulse; suddenly became enraged at the diss from his fellow DA. Fat Alvin went to the Mic and rapped about seeking justice for victims as being his priority....but at the end of the day the truth is he gets more worked up about charging Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny then he does about the animals and migrant gang members that are wreaking havoc on the streets of our city on a daily basis.

Ironically on the same day that Fat Alvin had a spokesperson release a statement of outrage and reminding the public that he is tough on crime....his office launched an investigation into the Guardian Angels and their physical altercation with a miscreant in Times Square while Curtis Sliwa was live on TV with Sean Hannitty. You really can't make it up.....Curtis was on live TV and some of his Guardian Angels tackled and held for Police someone they said was acting up nearby. this being Chinese New Year and the year of the Dragon, i thought we should kickoff today by talking Hockey. I have not seen anything like this since Groucho Blondini stole a car and drove the length of New Zealand in the 1980 cult classic Goodbye Pork Pie......this kid Matt Rempe is having a hell of a week.......he made his debut at Giants Stadium in front of 80,000 fans and fought Matt Martin in his first shift.....he terrorized the Devils on Thursday Night getting 17 penalty minutes and a game ejection...and yesterday down in Philly he had another great Fight and scored the game winning goal.... and through it all this 21 year old cowboy from Calgary is smiling and laughing and having the time of his life...like a Cat on fire, his post game interviews are TV Gold....this may just be the spark the Rangers needed to advance far in May and hopefully June.

The Redwings are alive and well......i have been surmising that they may tough to play in the first round should they sneak in......I think it's safe to safe that they will indeed qualify for the post season, especially since Patty Kane is back with a vengeance....and he marks his return to the Windy City tonight at 6:00 on the NHL network.....they just happen to be retiring Cheerio's Jersey...Chris Chelios ..should be an electric night at the Madhouse on Madison.    

my Coyotes on the other hand have fallen out of bed......looks like another year with high draft picks in the dessert, they are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak and the league is too competitive to survive something like that. 

i don't want to rush the last 6 weeks of this great regular season, but these playoffs sb epic....potential clashes out west will be must see tv no matter how it adds up....Dallas, Winnipeg and Colorado are all hitting stride and evenly matched.......is Vancouver finally for real ? can they survive Edmonton and do they match up with Vegas ? i don't think so.....but you better watch out for the wild cards too.....Calgary, the Wild and The Kings and Preds are all stepping on the Gas in February and whomever sneaks in will be tough to face....you can definitely see the Canuckleheads falling to the curse of the Presidents Trophy....can you imagine the level of rioting that Gastown will see should the beloved Canucks finish with the most regular season points and get burned by the Flamers in round one ?    

It's too early to even talk about the East......too many spots are up for grabs and everyone is jockeying for position....should be an entertaining ride the rest of the way......stock that beer fridge, settle in and enjoy the games.

it's like a flash of heat lightning ...off in the distance....the other side of the lake on a hot summer evening, so far away that you will not even hear the rumble of the ensuing thunder. here and gone in a blink......as fast and furious as sweater nite can arrive...it vanishes in the same way...an intoxicating blur, a whirlwind of faces and sounds...conversations abruptly cut short by the arrival of another special guest or old friend, a seemingly never-ending carousel......a wake or a wedding...is there a difference? 

I try valiantly to stay (semi) sober and speak to everyone, but most years it becomes an exercise in futility. Someday we will all be gone, but the Oak Room will remain, the Oak Room and Liev Eirikson Park hold the stories of all who came before and those yet to grace these shores. As i walked the streets of Bayridge it struck me that nobody seems to hang out in the parks anymore....there was a time where every patch of Public grass....every concrete softball field and every Parkie house was claimed by the local Teens or 20 somethings.....you knew them, you were them.....whether you spent a day in Moon Man or Bliss Park, OLA, 102, 170  or Mckinley even schoolyards, the 79th street Hockey court, Old Glory, the Stairs  or the parkway adjacent to Liev Eirkson Park. You knew the inhabitants and you acted accordingly when visiting someone else's turf....we gave the neighborhood an identity, for better or worse.......i'm partial....but things were better when The Irish and the Norsemen were hanging around in volume....the world was a simpler and safer place with the beer drinkers on the park benches watching over it.

Tough break for Murph....he thought he hit the pool when Brock Nelson scored....but after the mathematicians were brought it in, it was determined that his jersey number   29 adds up to 11....(2+9).......and so whomever had picked #1 was the winner........and not 0 .....lousy beak.

Big history was made last night when Caitlin Clark broke the all time ncaa scoring record for girlies...but it may be short lived.......Mookie Schamooka-Zaire is a sophomore at U Cal Santa-Barbara and is currently averaging 5.3 more points per game than Clark was at this same stage of her career. She is on a pace to break Clarks record at the end of next season.

not sure what exactly happened in Kansas City yesterday, but a mother of two is dead after a seemingly senseless shooting near union station at the end of the parade......and that stings.

I immediately thought back to the Red Sox incredible comeback from a 3-0 deficit against their hated rival the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS. In the chaos and mayhem and rioting around Fenway Park that ensued after the last out, a 21 year old Coed named Victoria Snelgrove was struck by a police fired rubber bullet....she later died from her injuries. The young woman was from nearby Brookline and she was a journalist major at Emerson College. She came from a family with a long line of Red Sox Faithful. I remember reading about her fate on the train to work and feeling a pit in my stomach, i thought about her dad who probably waited his whole life for a Red Sox world series, and now he would instead be burying his daughter while the city gathered in celebration. He probably wished he never shared his sports enthusiasm with his child and i am sure he never was able to enjoy their games again.......death sucks.... senseless death haunts.

don't look now but Russia is planning to take out our satellites. We know they got that idea from the camel fuckin Mullahs in Iran. They want nothing more than to bring down the worlds financial system and return the planet to the good old days of the Dark ages. As America and the West race each to a world dependent on computers, robots and Artificial Intelligence, our enemies are planning to take it all away in an instant. saddened to learn yesterday that the One of a kind Maniac that was Mojo Nixon passed away last week....he had a cardiac event on the Outlaw Cruise in Florida.....one of our fellow skaters, The Admiral; said he was on that same cruise 2 years ago and Mojo was snorting coke in public for 6 straight days.......i guess it caught up to him.......if you've never had the good fortune to listen to his music, find some time and give him a try......Crazy Wife is one of my favorite songs.

how about a little Hockey chatter on Super Bowl Sunday ? The trade deadline looms on the horizon and this could be the defining moment in the Chris Drury era. Two years ago he smacked it out of the park by acquiring Andrew Copp, Tyler Motte and Frank Vattrano at the deadline without giving up any blue-chip prospects. All 3 players played significant roles as the Blueshirts advanced to within 2 wins of a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals. 

Last year was a horrible miss as he traded for a broken down Pattty Kane and a streaky goal scorer in Tarasenko.....no help on defense and no added grit......and of course we were bounced in the first round.

This year i have my eyes on a few guys that are older, veteran, scrappy guys ( sb cheap acquisitions) that are on teams that are out of the playoff hunt and sb available for a price. Kyle Okposo and Nick Foligno.....35 and 36 years old......would love to see these grizzled vets wearing read , white and blue come April.

At the start of the year i shared my high expectations for the Arizona Coyotes and the Detroit Redwings.....2 young, up and coming squads....i said they were both probably a year away, but this was going to be a big step forward.....as we creep into Mid-February both teams are playing well and still in wild card contention.....watch out if either team sneaks in to the playoffs.

next weekend of course is the Stadium Series.....The Flyers and the Devils will test the Giants stadium ice surface on Saturday Night in preparation for the main event....Rangers-Iceladies at 3:00 Sunday.....live from Bayridge Brooklyn it's Sweater Nite 26.

WINNER - WINNER......Dan Ribaudo of Flemington NJ  aka Elmo, was the winner of the 4 tickets to the suite for the Rangers-Islanders game........strangely there were only 3 total entries......not sure why so few decided to enter....i guess most preferred to be at the Lief.
