PRIDE POWER KNOWLEDGE

JUBILATION !! the streak is dead.

On Saturday November 3rd 2007 the young men of the Naval Academy, future warriors of our nation, descended upon South Bend Indiana with a mission....enough was enough....the blood was in the water.....the time was ripe.....the streak must end.

It was fitting that it ended this way.......in South Bend.....instead of the MB&T Stadium in Balt , or the Meadowlands in NJ , or the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville or in Dublin Ireland....or any of the other cavernous stadiums around the world that ND Bullied the Navy into moving their home game....so the ND Alumni could attend in droves and ND could reap a larger % of the gate.

It was fitting that it ended this way.....a nail biter....a back and forth marathon of a game.....huge plays and multiple momentum swings.....triple overtime....two point conversions.....fake filed goals, missed extra points.....thrilling, thrilling game.....with a last second explosion of emotion when it was clear that we won....WE DID IT ......WE DID IT!!!!!!

It was fitting that "THIS" Team ended the streak......not teams in years past that were lead by spectacular individuals.....Mcconkey's early 80's, or Napolean MCcallums' team, or Kyle Eckells team or Roger Staubach class of 64 or anyone else......no it was the 2007 Navy Team...... and it was a team effort that got it done...every kid on that team played an important part in this win....no single player stood out from the rest....20 years from now they won't refer to this as Emoo Enchilida's sqaud....it will be the 2007 team that ended the streak....not one guy....and that is what NAVY football is all about......a team effort

it was fitting that I witnessed the game the way that I did.....in my yard...drinking cold beer on a cold day.....with Chaz Higgins and G Finn....no distractions.....no pests......no drunks in the Stk Xchange stealing our thunder....no secondary TV's showing highlights of the NBA or Ohio St previews....no jeks belitteling our accomplishment.....no juke box blaring Brittney Madonna or anything else.......no ...it was MY Yard....the US and the Naval Academy Flags were flying in the breeze.....the grill was on......My Neighbor and fellow squid Tim was hollering over the fence......between the third and fourth quarter we blarred Anchors Aweigh....and toasted the MIDS.......my Dog got to enjoy the festivities as well.

It was fitting.....and as i write this on Sunday Morning I have chills on my spine and a tear in my eye....and like the 2007 team....I will take this Victory with me the rest of my Life.

God Bless the United States of America....and God Bless the US NAVY.
