The Colts Fiasco

lets cut right to the chase.....the Colts owe their fans a refund and they owe ALL fans and the rest of the NFL an apology, as the great linguist Herm Edwards said, "You Play to Win the Game".......the message the Colts sent on Sunday is "Oh no you don't" , not if their are bigger fish to fry....the Colts made a mockery of the NFL , it's not who you play , but when you play them on your schedule , if the Jets get in because of a tie-breaker I hope it is at the expense of a team that had the bad luck of Playing the colts and loosing earlier in the year when the games still counted.....never mind the fact that the Colts threw away an opportunity to make history , as if Peyton Manning will benefit in the playoffs because he got an early shower on Sunday, 3 full weeks before their first playoff game....it would serve them right to get bounced in their playoff opener..

the ironic part , not that any jackass in today's society bothers to learn from history , but 2 years ago, under similar circumstances , with only history on the line, the Jints and Pats battled it out with their starters for 4 quarters on the LAST weekend of the season.....no rest for the weary....those two teams obviously met a month later for all the marbles.

bottom line....the colts owe their ticket holders at least a partial refund for last Sunday.....don't hold your breath.

Christmas in May

i had kind of given up on Christmas a while back, not in a grinchy way, but just an honest revelation that the excitement you used to feel as a kid was gone for good, not a big deal , i wasn't down or depressed, i would still go through the motions , but that was it.

that all changed this morning, I received the Greatest and most thoughtful gift I could ever imagine, my Wife is taking me to the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby ....she bought he tickets, scheduled my vacation with my boss, got a dog sitter, booked the hotels and mapped it all out....I am floored, goose bumps , beyond excited....after all these years, and parties, and daydreams.....I AM GOING TO THE DERBY !

Yes Lookin At Lucky.....there is a Santa Claus.

Time Honored Tradition

Today we tackle our finest foe, the Great Men from The United Staes Military Academy at West Point.....if Army wins they become bowl eligible......once the game starts the juices will flow and of course I will drinking to the Navy Foam....but offline, I must admit, it would be great for everyone if the Cadets joined the Flyboys and Squids in the Bowl Party.

Stand Navy down the field, sails set to the sky.
We'll never change our course, so Army you steer shy-y-y-y.
Roll up the score, Navy, Anchors Aweigh.
Sail Navy down the field and sink the Army, sink the Army Grey.

Get underway, Navy, Decks cleared for the fray,
We'll hoist true Navy Blue So Army down your Grey-y-y-y.
Full speed ahead, Navy; Army heave to,
Furl Black and Grey and Gold and hoist the Navy, hoist the Navy Blue

Blue of the Seven Seas; Gold of God's great sun
Let these our colors be till all of time be done-n-n-ne,
By Severn's shore we learn Navy's stern call:
Faith, courage, service true with honor over, honor over all.

taking an indefinite leave of action to save his marriage ? ?

lets say i am skeptical to say the least, maybe they are lawyering out the finer points on their new marriage agreement, you know things like Elin can't make sweedish meatballs more than twice a week and Tiger can't sleep with Porn Stars...minutia.

but even if any of that is true, knowing what we now seem to know about the worlds greatest golfer, I am certain that a part of him is saying.

" i will sit out the Masters and watch your ratings drop through the floor board , I will keep out of sight on that final Sunday when that Mick Harrington and Spaniard Garcia battle it out with NOBODY watching or CARING , and when NIKE and BUICK decide to scale back on their advertising, when tickets on stub hub go unsold, when the galleries dwindle and hotel rooms in Augusta are vacant because my following of 20 somethin knuckleheads no longer feel the need to attend the Masters in person and follow me around, when every last scoundrel at the PGA finally admits that I ..TIGER WOODS am bigger than the game itself.....that's when I will return to play Pebble Beach and save the world , with my loving Elin and our adorable children ( How many times did Jim Nantz call them adorable? it better have been double digits).......and I may never win another tournament , but the world of Golf will live in fear of my retirement"

Tiger

it's rarely the act itself that leads to the fall of the once mighty, but Rather; the cover up that premeditates their undoing.

Tiger will not be going to jail, we all know that, there is not enough there, but he may get divorced or amicably separated or whatever.

And there will not be an immediate backlash from his throngs of fans, whenever he decides to play again the Yahoos in the Gallery will shout "get in the hole" whenever he strikes the ball, and his sponsors ? nobody is dropping him that's for sure.

i do however think the inevitable demise has been set in motion, when a guy who allows his face to be splattered everywhere, commands and demands the spotlight ALWAYS ( even when tied for 8th place in a major) is willingly the center of the universe and always the focus of every story he is involved with.....When that guy suddenly finds himself in turmoil and NOW insists on Privacy......well the worm has begun to turn..............get yer mind off the golf course...i am talking about Barry Hussein.....

the hokie pokie of death

you put your right foot in , you take your right foot out......

President supports a limited surge in Afghanistan ?
We'll send most of the troops you asked for , BUT , put limits on how long they stay and how much we'll spend.....

where do I start?

Now the enemy knows exactly what our plans are , not smart, they will engage us when they are up to it, and hideaway when the odds are against or their supplies are low, they live there ya know, they can wait us out for generations, there is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel.

Financially we are in dire straits, BUT , you don't play budget games when lives are on the line, you don't try to appease your detractors by limiting spending on the military, if you are making the decision to send the military into hostile environments, halfway around the globe, taking these men and women away from their families at at such a fragile time in our nations psyche......the LEAST you can do is fully support their mission.

How demoralized would you or I feel if we were deployed next month to Afghanistan under these conditions, can you imagine a 20 something year old Marine having to explain to his wife and kids that he is going to Afghanistan under these circumstances........the success of our military has always rested on the inexplicable desire of young men to volunteer to serve and risk their lives, how long before that spirit turns to despair ? ......where in Gods name do these guys get that spirit ? if that magic well of new recruits ever runs dry it's OVER...but with the antichrist in washington......maybe that is what it's all about Grimmy!

and the beat (down) goes on

this is the real reason the blak haus is at war with Fox News, you won't read this story in the times or hear it on the cbs evening news , yet it is out there for all media outlets to report. in case you fomrgot just who this skmbag is , he was behind the murder of 4 U.S. Civilians in iRAQ, had their bodies dragged through the streets and hung from a bridge over the Euphrates River and 4 Navy Seals will be court martialed for alleggedly giving him a bloddy lip........it's over my friends, it is so over.

By Rowan Scarborough

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

The three SEALs will be arraigned separately on Dec. 7. Another three SEALs — two officers and an enlisted sailor — have been identified by investigators as witnesses but have not been charged.

FoxNews.com obtained the official handwritten statement from one of the three witnesses given on Sept. 3, hours after Abed was captured and still being held at the SEAL base at Camp Baharia. He was later taken to a cell in the U.S.-operated Green Zone in Baghdad.

The SEAL told investigators he had showered after the mission, gone to the kitchen and then decided to look in on the detainee.

"I gave the detainee a glance over and then left," the SEAL wrote. "I did not notice anything wrong with the detainee and he appeared in good health."

Lt. Col. Holly Silkman, spokeswoman for the special operations component of U.S. Central Command, confirmed Tuesday to FoxNews.com that three SEALs have been charged in connection with the capture of a detainee. She said their court martial is scheduled for January.

United States Central Command declined to discuss the detainee, but a legal source told FoxNews.com that the detainee was turned over to Iraqi authorities, to whom he made the abuse complaints. He was then returned to American custody. The SEAL leader reported the charge up the chain of command, and an investigation ensued.

The source said intelligence briefings provided to the SEALs stated that "Objective Amber" planned the 2004 Fallujah ambush, and "they had been tracking this guy for some time."

The Fallujah atrocity came to symbolize the brutality of the enemy in Iraq and the degree to which a homegrown insurgency was extending its grip over Iraq.

The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

Intelligence sources identified Abed as the ringleader, but he had evaded capture until September.

The military is sensitive to charges of detainee abuse highlighted in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. The Navy charged four SEALs with abuse in 2004 in connection with detainee treatment.

troublesome

i hope i am wrong , i hope my overly suspicious nature is working overtime for naught, i hope it's not a political game , a well calculated game to play with peoples lives to further the cause, but i doubt i am wrong.

Obama / Holder to charge Sheik Muhammad in NY Civilian court as opposed to military tribunal.

It first struck me as strange when i recd an text alert from 1010 wins while in Annapolis that Atty Gnrl Holder publicly stated the Govt would seek the death penalty for sheik muhammad.....why now ? why make that statement so soon ..that's odd for a nobel peace prize winner....unless of course he knows there is no way he can possibly win.....so what's his angle? was the govt trying to wrestle the focus of the story away from the fact that they are NOT being tried in Military Tribunals or trying to submerge the fact that they WERE being held in NYC?...those very important facts are not lost on me.

well first of all , you can't say he's a typical liberal or soft on crime....no sir, obama went for the jugular..literally.....if he wins the trial and muhammad is executed, further proof that he got the job done.

secondly , even if they win the trial , there is no chance of getting the death penalty, or at the very least the execution will delayed in the courts until long after this administration is on the book tour.

the trial ? every liberal lawyer in the nation will line up to subpoena a multitude of characters from the evil Bush administration ...especially Cheney...to humiliate them as torturers and have all the evidence thrown out for waterboarding and anything else they may admit under oath.....the trial will be an extended , and globally reported indictment of the previous administration.....good stuff for team obama.......and if the case is lost or dismissed it's not holder or barry's fault, it's that dam prior administration.....muhammad goes free or serves 20 years in a fed prison, obama apologizes to the world for the bushies, and tells the American public that he tried to bring a criminal to justice but was hampered by the despicable acts of Cheney & Co....peace prize intact...all is well in barry's world.

The pretrial hearings on admissable evidence will have the world wondering just whom is on trial....holder already said he will go after the CIA & FBI , but now he won't have to....just like obama....somebody else will do the dirty work for them.

at he very least , it is a media circus , played out on the streets of manhattan, for all the world to see, maybe even another attack.....more fuel to the "IT's BUSHs Fault" fire that obama is burning......a win-win for his team......i hope none of my readers are killed when the shoe drops....I wonder how many new recruits al-queda will win with this circus trial on the evening news all over the world.

possible outcomes.....

conviction & execution = WE did it...MY administration gained justice for the 9/11 families. The saddest truth is even if we win the trial , we loose...the international attention and platform afforded these confessed murderers receive will do unspeakable harm for generations to come....cameras in the court room holder promises....cameras in the court room..
aquittal = dam bush....but it won't happen again because my guys give miranda rights to EVERYONE.....another peace prize?

Anchors Aweigh

don't search for me in local haunts or expect my shadow to appear, for i have set sail for the port of Annapolis this morn, to eat and drink amongst the ghosts of the United States Navy, on the cobblestoned streets and the Publik Houses of yesteryear , in the Commodore Barry Bar and the like , on those ancient streets to dead for dreaming as Mr Zimmerman would quip of Mcdougal, anchors aweigh me boys , I shall indeed Drink to the Foam !

what if they held a parade and nobody came ? Today's turnout should rival that of the previous Friday for the Yankees I am geussing ....right ? Lord Knows if the Yankees hadn't volunteered to play beisbol and risked their lives in Philadelphia doing their jobs we might be slaughtered in the streets or bombed into submission by our enemies .....that's worthy of a parade.

November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.) And today , while the battle outside rages , we .....we.......we.......we go about our business as if it were just another Wednesday........i will leave you with Tom Waits...the day after tomorrow

I got your letter today
and I miss you all so much here
I can’t wait to see you all
and I’m counting the days here

I still believe that there’s gold
at the end of the world
And I’ll come home to Illinois
on the day after tomorrow

It is so hard and it's cold here
and I’m tired of taking orders
And I miss old Rockford town
up by the Wisconsin border

What I miss, you won't believe
shoveling snow and raking leaves
And my plane will touch down
on the day after tomorrow

I close my eyes every nite
and I dream that I can hold you

They fill us full of lies, everyone buys
'bout what it means to be a soldier
I still don't know how I'm supposed to feel
Lyrics'bout all the blood that's been spilled
Will god on this throne
get me back home
on the day after tomorrow

You can't deny, the other side
Don't want to die anymore then we do
What I'm trying to say is don't they pray
to the same god that we do?

And tell me how does god choose
whose prayers does he refuse?
Who turns the wheel
Who throws the dice
on the day after tomorrow

I'm not fighting, for justice
I am not fighting, for freedom
I am fighting, for my life
and another day in the world here

I just do what I've been told
We're just the gravel on the road
And only the lucky ones come home
on the day after tomorrow

And the summer, it too will fade
and with it brings the winter's frost dear
And I know we too are made
of all the things that we have lost here

I'll be 21 today
I been saving all my pay
And my plane will touch down
on the day after tomorrow
And my plane it will touch down
on the day after tomorrow

getting to tailgate with Tom Garry less than 24 hours after NAVY Beat ND = PRICELESS

It does not get any better

there are few moments more joyous on this planet than watching the Men of the US Naval Academy sing a victorious verse of Alma Mater on the field at ol South Bend.

Now college men from sea to sea
May sing of colors true,
But who has better right than we
To hoist a symbol hue?
For sailor men in battle fair
Since fighting days of old,
Have proved a sailor's right to wear
The Navy Blue and Gold.

Pazarecki BANNED

Johnny Tortilla defended Henrik Lunquist for getting a DWI on the way to Madison Square Garden on Monday afternoon and instead placed some unlikely blame for the Blueshirts 7 game winning streak being snapped. "obviously this loss is the result of Craig Pazarecki being in the building" Johnny Taco shouted at one scribe.....when pressed whether he was referring to Craig Sr or Lil Craig Jr , Johnny Tortolinni abrubtly ended his press conference......"he's a Jet fan ya know....both of them are" were his parting words as he left to join King Henrik in the Olde Penn Bar ....which unforttunately is no longer there...

NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- The New York Daily News is reporting that Red
Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams' severed head was mistreated at an
Arizona cryonics facility, according to details from a new book.

In "Frozen,'' Larry Johnson, a former executive at the Alcor Life
Extension Foundation in Scottsdale, Ariz., writes that Williams' head,
which had been severed and frozen for storage, was abused at the
facility. Johnson claims a technician took baseball-like swings at
Williams' frozen head with a monkey wrench.

Williams, the last player to hit over .400 in a season, died in 2002 at
age 83 and had his remains sent to Alcor for cryogenic storage in the
hope that future generations would develop the technology to revive him

proof is in the pudding

If your honest with yourself and you watched the media reaction and treatment they gave towards Sarah Palin and her family over the past year, you should have at some point asked the question...WHY ?

Why did they attacke this woman with such ferocity?
Why was there such a united chorus of venom directed at her beliefs?
Why was their such a determination to discredit and destroy everything she stood for?
Why was their such a sigh of relief when her daughter became pregnant out of wedlock?
Why didn't NOW come to her defense?
Why was there little or no outrage to the personal attacks?

This was not ordinary campaigning, none of this fervor was directed at John Mccain.

The answer lies in the deep dark secrets of the mudslingers soul. When they are alone with their thoughts and are "shocked by the FOWL EVIL deeds they have done"
when there is no hope for tomorrow , in the setting of the sun...they know.

They know that when they expire, they will pay for their actions like everyone else.
But there is safety in numbers, if they can tear down the fabric of decent society, if they can lower the bar of what is acceptable, they can find solace in the alarming number of miscreants that share their evil ways. Just as the muslims see freedom and equal rights for women as a threat to their centuries of domination, They comfort themselves in the discomfort of others, they somehow rationalize that "everybody" does it.......that may work here in the current condition of the United States, they may be able to "Shout Down" decent society, they may be able to force gay marriage, teenage abortion, and child rape down the collective throats of this society and push their liberal agenda to the limits.......but when the lights dim , and the cameras are turned off , and it's just you and the only judge that matters.....good luck.

in case you missed , that ole jokester dave letterman admitted on air he did some "creepy things"...yuk yuk....even got a round of applause from his studio audience...oh the jocularity of it all........but hey enough already , back to Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean...

have fun in hell dave, say hi to the dead kennedy's

Broadway Blueshirts...Americas team

The hockey Rangers have 7 ....count em 7....follow the link....AMERICANS on the opening day roster........we know slats is a canadian commie , so all the credit goes to Johnny Tacos for asembling this group......can't wait for the opener in Pittsburgh.....I was positively stunned to see that America's line lists the blushirts at 30-1 to win the cup....that's free money for the taking.....onward to victory.

Boston College

ESPN's gameday is onsite at BC for the Eagles -Fla State Game...this article below appeared on ESPN website reviewing the BC experience......Katie? are they accurate? a nice shout out to Mary Anns buy the way.....but no mentions of Roggies Boston College is one of a few dozen institutions that make Boston one of the country's best college towns. What some don't realize is how things athletic mix so fervently with things academic. Even the smartest are into hockey, lacrosse and racing on the Charles River. BC's gorgeous campus in Chestnut Hill, the quiet leafy suburb west of the center, sees fewer visitors than some campuses, and some visiting ACC fans gently mock its wee stadium (44,500 capacity), but it packs a roar on fall Saturdays, when tailgaters pull out kielbasa and fresh lobster. It is also a place you can shop up last-minute and almost always manage to get a $37 seat. Why go Everyone talks about Harvard, but Boston College -- actually not in Boston, nor a college -- as a day's itinerary out of central Boston makes for a fun outing, particularly when it centers around one of its teams (hockey and basketball are at least as big as football). Chestnut Hill, between Brighton and Newton (of Fig Newton fame), is easily reached by the T, Boston's public transportation system. And its nice campus has just enough life to occupy the hours before and after kickoff. Though many just head to Brighton, a working-class area just east, for the bars. Away from football, Boston can easily fill several days. A perfect one might include a look at Harvard's campus, a walk around the Freedom Trail and a pint of Guinness in one of the many Irish pubs.

onward we march to victory !

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads.
They might as well be dead.
If the rain comes, if the rain comes.
When the sun shines they slip into the shade
And sip their lemonade.
When the sun shines, when the sun shines.
Rain, I don't mind.
Shine, the world looks fine.
I can show you that when it starts to rain,
Everything's the same.
I can show you, I can show you.
Rain, I don't mind.
Shine, the world looks fine.
Can you hear me, that when it rains and shines,
It's just a state of mind?

Thanks

A sincere Thank You to all who took the time and somehow found the Money to contribute to the Stephen Siller "For the children" Charity as part of my fundraising efforts, I definitely appreciate it. I will chug my way through the tunnel tomorrow with a zillion thoughts in my head, but I will find solace knowing the money we raised will somehow, someway find itself to a deserving kid and maybe make a difference , if even for a moment.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

is it rolling bob ?

the new world order

i don't know about you , but in light of recent developments on the ZAZI case, I know I would sleep better if I thought our CIA, FBI and all law enforcement were operating without handcuffs and in fear of prosecution by Holder and obama down the road.....why Risk violating zazi's "civil" rights to find out where and when the plot is to go down , who cares if you save thousands of lives, you are the one they will prosecute. this administration , in only 9 months ; has agreed to scrap our missile defense shield in Western Europe , and stood around with a thumb up their arse while Iran sprints to a Nuclear finish line..........we have bowed down to and buddied up to the Russians and alinieated our true allies including Poland. we have agreed to ridiculous rules of engagement ( see ralph peters below) that handcuff our troops and ensure increased casualties....God help the first Marine who calls in an airstrike while the Taliban is holding a civilian as a human shield...Holder & Obama will throw the book at em. maybe now , a small % of our borderline retarded nation , the ones who are addicted to Oprah, think obama is sophisticated and voted for him to show how open minded they are, maybe these same simpletons will wake up someday soon and realize this wasn't a high school popularity contest, maybe... When enemy action kills our troops, it's unfortu nate. When our own moral fecklessness murders those in uniform, it's unforgivable. In Afghanistan, our leaders are complicit in the death of each soldier, Marine or Navy corpsman who falls because politically correct rules of engagement shield our enemies. Mission-focused, but morally oblivious, Gen. Stan McChrystal conformed to the Obama Way of War by imposing rules of engagement that could have been concocted by Code Pink: * Unless our troops in combat are absolutely certain that no civilians are present, they're denied artillery or air support. McChrystal: Imposing restrictions that play into enemies' hands. * If any civilians appear where we meet the Taliban, our troops are to "break contact" -- to retreat. These ROE are a cave-in to the Taliban's shameless propaganda campaign that claimed innocents were massacred every time our aircraft appeared overhead. (Afghan President Mohammed Karzai and our establishment media backed the terrorists.) The Taliban's goal was to level the playing field -- to deny our troops their technological edge. Our enemies more than succeeded. And what has our concern for the lives of Taliban sympathizers accomplished? The Taliban now make damned sure that civilians are present whenever they conduct an ambush or operation. So they attack -- and we quit the fight, lugging our dead and wounded back to base. We've been through this b.s. before. In Iraq, we wanted to show respect to our enemies, so the generals announced early on that we wouldn't enter mosques. The result? Hundreds of mosques became terrorist safe houses, bomb factories and weapons caches. Why is this so hard to figure out? We tell our enemies we won't attack X. So they exploit X. Who wouldn't? It isn't just that war is hell. It's that war must be hell, otherwise why would the enemy ever quit?

Joke of the year

if this doesn't get your Monday started with a chuckle , then something is wrong with you , quite possibly the joke of the year, this was sent to the Sweater night Headquarters by Donnie Biesbol. The staff hasn't stopped laughing since it's arrival.

A magician worked on a cruise ship.

The audience was different each week so the magician did the same tricks over and over again.
There was only one problem: the captain's parrot saw the shows each week and began to understand how the magician did every trick. Once he understood, he started shouting in the middle of the show. 'Look, it's not the same hat!' or 'Look, he's hiding the flowers under the table!' or 'Hey, why are all the cards the ace of spades?'
The magician was furious but couldn't do anything. It was, after all, the captain's parrot.
Then one stormy night on the Pacific, the ship unfortunately sank, drowning almost all who were onboard. The magician luckily found himself on a piece of wood floating in the middle of the sea with, as fate would have it, the parrot.
They stared at each other with hatred but did not utter a word. This went on for a day... and then 2 days... and then 3 days. Finally on the 4th day, the parrot could not hold back any longer and said......

'OK, I give up. Where's the fUCKing ship?

Congratulations are in order

a fast moving rumor has swept Bayridge, Dan Woods recently past the 35 days sober checkpoint , a new Guinness World record....and speaking of Guinness.

BCS update

ugh !

Ga Tech was spanked by the Hurricanes Alice , a death blow to their ACC Title Hopes and subsequently any BCS consideration, it wasn't just a CONF loss, but a division loss as well, so in order to get back into the ACC title game , Miami will have to lose twice in the conf and the Jackets will have to go undefeated the rest of the way...considering we have to play our nemesis Va Tech , that will be tough.

Notre Dame......all Hail Charlie Weiss and the Irish , Damn the torpedoes , I like this guy and I like this Team , Yes they should have blown the Spartans back to East Lansing , and Yes the seem to lack that knockout punch, BUT they play with a lot of heart and great confidence, and I am gradually starting to like Claussen, and you have to love Kyle Rudolph......with home games against the Huskies and the Trojans in the next few weeks (after a visit to the biolermakers) , the IRISH can climb right back into the National spotlight.....

Navy............GRRRRRRRRRRRR......did not get to see the game , but the recaps emerging from the steel city are not pretty, 27-14 ....and it wasn't that close..hard to imagine that Pitt is that much better than Ohio State....not sure what transpired on the banks of the Allegheny, but coach Ken had better right this ship and quickly.......one observation though, as much as i like Ricky Dobbs....he has to share the ball more, keep the defense honest

on the national front , it was nice to see Washington Knock off the men of Troy.
GREAT win for the Black Knights of the Hudson over Ball State....there is life up at ole West Point , Army Stands @ 2-1 and loving it..bring on the cyclones.

Tunnel To Towers

I usually do not ask for people to sponsor me, especially in this day and age where everyone seems to have a hand out and there is not as much to go around as their used to be, but i feel pretty strongly about this one....if you don't know Stephen Sillers story , google him and read up , in any event I am sick and fkn tired of how quickly this country forgets whatever is incovenient to remember , and so i am running through the Battery Tunnel on Sunday Sept 27th to try and keep one tradition alive for as long as possible, the bigger this race gets , the more mainstream media is forced to report and cover it....who knows, maybe some Monday after the race we'll pick up a paper and there will be a story about Steve Siller and ALL the people that ran in is Honor/Memory on the front page ....instead of page 19 after all the juicy stories about the celebutards and obamas hollywood left......if you can run great, if you drop a few sheckles into the foundation, even better.

If you click on the subject "tunnel to towers" it will redirect you to my pledge page.

Catholic Boy

add Jim Carroll to the list of "people who died, died, died" , he wrote an interesting book that was later butchered into a crap hollywood movie , then he formed a band and had brief success, he basically just stopped and told the stories of the insanity that exists in every group of friends in every NY neighborhood , at least that insanity existed in the 60's, 70's and early 80's New York ....not really sure "that" world is around anymore, everything is way too serious, every mistake magnified, the drugs aren't safe or fun anymore, there seems to be a lack of affable clowns who roam the streets with nowhere to go and nothing to become, everyone has a sharp edge these days, don't get me wrong , the seedy underbelly existed always, but it seemed to be more of balance back then, but maybe that was just a distortion of my own youth...anyway if you never read the "Basketball Diaries", it is worth checking out, I read it in the summer of 1980 between Freshmen and Sophomore year, I may read it again if I can find it......also if you never listened to his signature album "Catholic Boy" ...that is worth listening to , if for no other reason than to think about those people who died, died ,died

NEW YORK — Jim Carroll, the poet and punk rocker who wrote "The Basketball Diaries," died Friday. He was 60.

He died from a heart attack at his home in Manhattan, his ex-wife Rosemary Carroll told the New York Times.

In the 1970s, Carroll was a fixture of the burgeoning downtown New York art scene, where he mixed with artists such as Andy Warhol, Patti Smith, Larry Rivers and Robert Mapplethorpe. His life was shaped by drug use, which he wrote about extensively.

Carroll also published several poetry collections, while his 1980 album, "Catholic Boy," has been hailed as a landmark punk record, and he became known for one of its songs, "People Who Died."

But it was "The Basketball Diaries," his autobiographical tale of life as a sports star at Trinity, an elite private high school in Manhattan, that brought him his widest audience. The son of a bar owner, Carroll attended the school on a basketball scholarship.

The book, which began life as a journal, was first published in 1978 and then became even more popular, particularly on college campuses, when it was issued as a mass-market paperback two years later. A 1995 movie version starred Leonardo DiCaprio.

****BREAKING NEWS *****

The high tides had to stop in the middle of an 18 minute version of Bertha at the big Cadotte Family Reunion to page one Anthony Bart , it seems Brian Duffy was soooo exhubirant with the 1st half performance of his Gang Green Savior Mark Counseulo Ripa Sanchez that he took off his apron, vacated his spot behind the bar and joined the happy revelers on the good side of the Mahogany for a round ( and another and another) of Jamesons....."tell Bart I'm taking a half day " Duff shouted to Lil Timmy ...."and tell him I am taking off for all Jet Home Playoff Games and the SuperBowl"....he then raced to the front door of Pippins to padlock the entrance before his nemesis K-Mac could get in and jinx his J-E-T-S Magic...

stay tuned for this developing story....

BCS Update

Ga Tech = The Jackets keep stinging , buzzed out to a 24-0 lead only to find themselves trailing Howards' Rock and the Clemson Tigers 27-24 in the 4th...never worry , never fear , Coach Johnsons here to save the day and the perfect season remains intact, 30-27....not sure if you saw the fake field goal in the 2nd quarter....Coach of the Year is all I can say.

ND = uh-oh......i'm not ready to sack Charlie yet, I think the refs and the breaks were against us all day.....I think we outplayed them from gun to whistle , but the scoreboard says otherwise...I thought the Irish played with a great deal of confidence, which I have not seen in a long time, and I though Claussen and the offense looked GREAT....still not sure how they lost , time will tell if this was legit road loss or a disastrous setback.

Navy = nice bounce back from heartbreak hill to spank La Tech at NMCS , it is a game we are supposed to win and we did , nice cover too , layin 8 , won by 18....that's the way Coach Ken draws it up on the board....offense was typically great after a slow start, defense was swarming....gave up 7 on special teams and only 7 (after a turnover) the rest of the day...GO MIDS.

after watching Ohio State loose to USC at the horseshoe by 3 , it is fair to say the Navy is within a touchdown of the Trojans on a neutral site , and if they ever had the guts to even schedule us, let alone visit the Lovely Chesapeake Bay , NAVY WOULD WIN........who amongst you can argue with such sound logic ?

oh Deer !

so me and Gravey ( Top Dog in Monmouth County 3 of the last 4 years) are out for our Saturday mornin stroll and we get to our corner....."our corner" not the middle of the deadwood forest mind ya....and whom do we see standing on our neighbors lawn ? well he looked a lot like the guy pictured above , so naturally Graves is shaking with anticipation, she has never Killed ( I mean played with) an animal of this size , so she is salivating at the chance to take on this buck.....I on the other hand am not.....this friggin thing was big , so Graves starts to pull on her leash and yelping , lunging towards this Deer.....the Deer Bolts , immediately followed by two more that were lurking behind the bushes, and the three of em go hopping back into the Woods....it was impressive to see them bounce away from so close, Gravey stopped dead in her tracks and shot me a look over her should that was priceless....as if to ask " What the Blank was that?"........oh deer , was all I said to her...OH Deer !

will the wind remember ?

the swaying trees and rambunctious seas
announce the dawn of another year,
just like the ones before, spirits arrive at your door
to reclaim....the lives they left too soon.
Fear not , they come in peace
to the homes and cubicles where they should still dwell
to the lives they left behind against their will, not by their choice.
acknowledge the howl on this day if no other
they are roaring in unison to remind.

joe wilson

very inappropriate of Joe Wilson (R-SC) because now the focus becomes "him" instead of this miserable health care reform plan that before last night even Democrats did not endorse.....lets hope this outburst does not inspire them to go it alone.

for the record they were both right , Wilson absolutely understands obamas intenstion of having you and I pay for healthcare of illegal immigrants.

obama....in the ultimate clintonesque stance , told the truth too......this plan will not insure illegals......Because I plan to grant amnesty and citizenship to those who are currently living here illegally.....a catch 22....the horse or the cart ...

as we used to say in the Navy "we are in sh*ts creek without a canoe, let alone a fkin paddle."

lyrics revisited

Bow Weir and Ratdog "Ashes & Glass" , if you have never had the pleasure...make an attempt, the version on ratdogs live album is best.

What if all tomorrow brings is ashes and glass
And I can't tell you child, "This too shall pass"
If all the world were windswept cold and grey
And in the end there's nothing left to say

If all the silicone, best laid plans
Became the master and the fall of man
If all the world were baked to hard red clay
It's not so far from where we are today
Ah well anyway

Come on darlin, let's swing n sway
Daddy gonna find us a better way
And if that better way don't float
Daddy gonna find us a tighter boat
And if that tighter boat don't sail
Grab a bucket, babe, and start to bail
And if that bucket spring a leak
Little miss, we're up the creek

What if fire come raining on the hills
And mountains made of rusting Coupe de Villes
And all God's children find themselves alone
And all the poets took to throwing stones
Guess we're on our own, no way out and no way home

Come on child, we can sing
Daddy gonna grab that ole brass ring
And if that ole brass ring don't fit
Daddy gonna get to fixin it
And if that ole brass ring stay broke
Daddy gonna buy you a billy goat
And if that billy goat don't bark
Give that goat the ole kick start

What if all tomorrow brings is ashes and glass
And I can't tell you child, "This too shall pass"
If those four horsemen can't be turned away
And everyone's too paralyzed to pray

Too paralyzed to pray
And the jury's out on judgement day
And there ain't nothing left to say
Nothing left to say

Come on darlin, we can fly
Daddy got a stack of alibis
An alibi shot full of holes
Little miss, let's rock n roll
And if that roll takes us to France
Teach them froggies how to dance
But keep on dancin sing the tune
Cuz We'll be dancin all around the moon
And if that big ole moon go bust
ashes to ashes babe n dust to dust
Maybe it's time for one last rave
And we'll be dancing on our own graves'
On our own graves

BCS Update

Ga Tech title hopes took a hit ....no not because of their performance ( they rolled Jax State) but the ACC sucks and its obvious early....Va Tech lost to Alabama, MARYland got crushed by Cal......our in-state rival from the SEC Georgia lost to OK state...so our annual win over the dawgs in november looses some steam....coach Johnson does know it will take a perfect season to crack the BCS this year.

ND ? 35-0 over Nevada ....time will tell if that's impressive or not , Claussen looked good, but I still don't trust him, not sure why , he just seems sneaky.

Navy....heartbreakin loss definitely cost us a shot at the Natl title, although if we run the table , win another CIC Trophy, spank the Irish in South Bend (again!) we should be bowling come Christmas.

so close...

In CASE all you hucksters who like to poke fun at Navy Football missed it yesterday, the MIDSHIPMEN went into the horseshoe and were within a two point conversion of tying the #6 Team in the nation in the closing minute. there are no moral victories, but I was very impressed with our offense and pleasantly surprised with our run defense, I will take solace in the fact that we can hang on the road against a BCS school.....we are getting there, a national Championship is eminent.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Brian Rolle intercepted a potential two-point conversion in the closing minutes and returned it for two points the other way, helping No. 6 Ohio State hold off Navy 31-27 on Saturday.

A crowd of 105,092 - the largest ever to see the Buckeyes open a season - sat in stunned silence after the Midshipmen scored twice in just over 4 minutes to cut a 29-14 deficit to two points with 2:23 left in the game.

Navy went for the conversion and the tie, but Rolle stepped in front of Ricky Dobbs' pass and rumbled up the sideline to preserve the win in the Midshipmen's first trip to Ohio Stadium since 1931

quadlibo

well this was an easy CASE to crack, it was all Brian Duffy's fault for unearthing the demon that lies within when he coerced me into drinking shots of JAMESON at the track on Thursday....the 48 hours of insanity that followed could have been lifed out of the summer of 1983 playbook...word for slurred word.....I have been stinking drunk for two full days, drinking shots like it was my job ...with no end in sight...

hapy friday

God bless the Internet.

enter Patty Valentine form the upper hall

There is no reason to be over optimistic
But sometimes when she smiles , I can brave bad weather ( The Who)

this doesn't sound like the woodman we all know......Mitch doesn't weaken , he grows stronger as Saturday approaches...

Wayne Verno, Lead Meteorologist
The Weather Channel
5:13 a.m. ET 8/28/2009

Danny weakens even more; some impacts still possible for the Outer Banks and eastern New England.

Tropical Storm Danny continues to weaken well off the Southeast U.S. Coast. As of 5 a.m. Friday, the center of Tropical Storm Danny was located 400 miles south of Cape Hatteras, NC.

Danny continues to struggle in a hostile environment, with an upper-level trough to the north and west, and shearing winds overtop the system.

Recent reports from a Hurricane Hunter Aircraft indicate Danny is barley holding on the tropical storm status, with the maximum winds now at 40 mph to the northeast of the center of circulation.

Danny is moving northwest near 10 mph. It should make a turn to the north and north-northeast later today into Saturday, while accelerating, as an upper-level trough deepens over the Central U.S.

Elevated surf and rip currents are already impacting areas from the northeast coast of Florida to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and this will continue through tonight. Increased surf and rip currents will spread toward the southern New England coast tonight into Saturday.

There remains a lot of uncertainty with the forecast track and intensity of Danny.

goin away party for Mac

Saturday Sept 12th we are planning a going away party for Steve Mac , the lifetime OLA resident is moving far far away to the land of the lost parish of St Ephrems. let me know your availability and i'll keep you posted on the details.

I see the Light

as the hulking Giant of a man that he is indeed, Jorma Kaukonen announed the arrival of Hot Tuna top the glorious shore with a thundering version of I see the Light, quite the jovial ol soul that he is , Jorma joked and poked fun at JACK all night, "see what happens when we let him drink that Jersey water" he quipped after Jack was overly demonstrative during one number.....all in all it was a spledid night at the Basie, ice cold delicious frosty beer flowed freely, and when it ran out....so did we.

In this world I'm living in I see the light
Sins are gone, now I know what is wrong and right
Morning came on slowly pushing back the night
It's good times now that I can see the light
On this road I'm walking on I see my way
Paradise I'm living for each and every day
'Bout the crossroads of the past, nothing more to say
It's good times now but we can see our way
In this sea I'm moving through, feel my life complete
With the one I'm living for time is, oh, so sweet
Feeling us together, living in the bright
It's good times now, we can see the light
In this world I'm living in I see the light
Sins are gone, now I know what is wrong and right
Morning came on slowly pushing back the night
It's good times now that we can see the light

oldies but goodies

my and Rico spring of 1980 on my back porch on 76th street , great day for drinking beer....Paul Maguire was the Mystery Photographer...I am wearing my 22 OLA jersey in Homage to the Great Dave Debuschere.

Strovika acting the part of Community Organizer , ensuring that everyone loaded the bus outside the Maritime Hotel in Montreal August 19?? ...i wanto say 1990 , but I am not certain..Craig stares in disbelief, obviously the first time he has seen a camera, PG joins me and Donny for the photo Op, and bare legible cogs is scurrying by in jis Purple Liev Vikings T-shirt, and the 20th hijacker is loading nitrogen bombs into his trunk right under our noses...that is a cigarette in my mouth, I refused to light it all weekend.

lyrics revisited

this is the song that Jorma wrote that pretold and actually initiated the breakup , or at least the leaving of Jorma and Jack from the Airplane, it's titled thrid week at the Chelsea, and he is going to play it (hopefully) tonight at the Count Basie.

Sometimes I feel like i am leaving life behind
My hands are moving faster than the movement of my mind
Thoughts and generations of my dreams are yet unborn
So we go on moving trying to make this image real
I hope that I will find them 'fore my moving gets too worn
Straining every nerve not knowing what we really feel
If only I could live to see the dawning of the dawn

Straining every nerve ending and everybody sees
That what they read in the Rolling Stone has really come to be
And trying to avoid a taste of that reality

Showed to me a face I didn't know at all
On an early New York mornin' a mirror in the hall
When I looked into the mouth there was nothing left inside
Lines were drawn around a pair of eyes that opened wide

So I walked into the little room and whistled like a sigh
As dawn light closed around me my head was still in gear
Thinking thoughts of playing more and singing loud and clear
Trying to reach a friend somewhere and make that person smile
Maybe pull myself away from that old lonesome mile

That often comes to haunt me in the morning
All my friends keep telling me that it would be a shame
To break up such a grand success and tear apart a name
Emptiness ain't where it's at and neither's feeling pain

Time is getting late now and the sun is getting low
But all I know is what I feel whenever I'm not playin'
Well now what is going to happen now is anybody's guess
If I can't spend my time with love I guess I need a rest
And sunshine's waiting for me a little further down the roadMy body's getting tired of carryin' another's load

fair is fair

It will never happen, but at his first press conference, this is the question that s/b asked of Mike Vick:

If you become the starting QB at some point, and the Eagles loose the game that you start, would you feel it is appropriate for the Eagles Ownership to Hang, Electrocute or drowned your sorry ass?

food for thought...

reason # 2,374,901 why islamic law sucks

Booze mum to be first woman to be caned in Malaysia 20/08/2009

A muslim model will become the first woman to be caned in Malaysia after admitting drinking beer.

An Islamic court has ordered that Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, be lashed six times. She was caught drinking alcohol in a raid on a hotel night club last year.

The married mum-of-one, who is being held in jail for a week, is not appealing against the sentence Prosecutor Saiful Idham Sahimi said: "This is the first case here. Under Islamic law a person who drinks commits a serious offence."

The Return of Favre

all around the NFL football fans were excited at the return of one of the greatest QB's and competitors of all time, the legendary , hall of famer himself, Brett Favre has decided to lace em up again with the Norsemen Tribe of St Paul.....drink, eat and drink like a Vikin Brett Arrghh!

as the man himself said...."I would hope that every teammate I ever played with would want me in a foxhole with him"

and they do.....except for the miserable, small minded, blame someone else for my failures, wheres the scapegoat, backstabbing J-E-T-S .....they turned on the injured legend in the closing weeks of the season, quit on him , and blamed him for everything from Manginny's "play not to loose' philosophy , to global warming.
Brett is the CLASS of the NFL , we wish you well, we hope to see you again in the NFC title game, and than GOD our last memory of you will not be wearing that silly jet uniform and being degraded by the likes of Lavernius Coles .

we will turn to Peter Rowan to sum it up for the jets.

If you ever feel sorrow for the deeds you have done,
With no hope for tomorrow in the setting of the sun.
And the ocean is howling of things that might have been,
And that last good morning sunrise will be the brightest you've ever
seen.
