As we talked about back in March.......it’s always about the almighty dollar.......the politicians dollars not yours.........Gov Murphy vetoed a bill that would have allowed small businesses to suspend their rent payments for 3 months.......so he ordered businesses to close and now insists that they still pay their rent......with what? Personal savings?
But the ironic part is in his remarks on why he vetoed.
Murphy said the bill shifts the financial pain from small business to commercial landlords “ who may not be relieved of their own obligations to pay mortgage payments and property taxes”
And why not ? Because that’s Murphy’s money..... that’s his magic money faucet....he acts as though he doesn’t have the authority to suspend property taxes on landlords so that they could in return suspend rent collection from businesses the Government overreached and illegally shut down.
I wish I could say that I was surprised

I have been a staunch defender of the police on this page for ever, but there’s no excuses for the murder in Minneapolis....... the man was subdued and in handcuffs.....whatever ensued did not require placing him face down with a knee to the throat for 7 minutes....whatever he may have said or tried to do is irrelevant....he was already in cuffs.
Something is missing from the story I think......Floyd was accused of trying to pass a counterfeit $10 bill .....seriously? Who would even check on a $10 bill.......first cops on the scene were calm.....handcuffed him without incident........the cop who murdered him had to have a history with this particular person.....it’s the only explanation.......not an excuse or a defense, but an explanation.
In short, the cop with the knee should have been arrested day 1.......even as the investigation continues.

hockey revisited
leave it to the NHL to over complicate everything...….they have decided to go straight to the playoffs but because the Blackhawks, Canadiens and Rangers were all OUT of the playoffs on the final day they have decide to expand the playoffs to 24 teams ( because to be honest, nobody gives a shit about the rest of the league) ...…...the top 4 teams in each conf will play a round robin tournament against each other in order to get back in shape and reseed...…...the next 8 teams in each conf will play a best of 5 series to advance to the traditional playoffs.....strange yes.....but now here's the tricky part...….the #12 team in the conf would normally miss the playoffs and be eligible for the Draft Lottery.....maybe that's what they would prefer too......so the league has set up a potential 3 rounds of weighted lottery balls to determine the draft order to include the teams that are not in the top 24 and the teams that loose in the first round........sooooo….potentially a team like the Penguins.....#5 in the conference ( pretty good team) could get knocked out in the elimination round ( after a 3 month hiatus anything is probable let alone possible) and end up with the #1 pick in the draft.... …..the whole idea of the lottery was to prevent teams from tanking at the end.....well since they are not playing the last 20 games of the regular season that point is moot......why not just set the draft order based on the standings of March 12th in reverse order....let the worst teams pick first , move the draft up to next week and get some attention from the sports starved populace ? I guess that would make too much sense...

From the ridiculous to the sublime
The Belmont stakes will be held on June 20th as the “First” leg of the Triple Crown and the distance has been shortened to a mile and 1/8th ( down from its historic mile and 1/2.......there will be no fans......the Kentucky Derby will be held on Labor Day weekend.....this feels like a never ending Acid dream......
And if you are watching SNY replays of the 86 series...... I have a funny feeling the Mets will turn things around up in Fenway

from the first Saturday in May.....to the Worst Saturday in May...…..all the bourbon rattling in glasses and the lasses in the Derby Bonnetts......where are they now ? this pandemic has sucked all along....but today it's personal...…...before the world shut down I was ready to announce SHOTSKI as my Derby Pick......let's see if he is even in the field come labor day weekend.
