mans best friend

dylan part two

Now there’s a wall between us, somethin’ there’s been lost
I took too much for granted, got my signals crossed.
Just to think that it all began on a long-forgotten morn.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount
But nothing really matters much, it’s doom alone that counts
And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

I’ve heard newborn babies wailin’ like a mournin’ dove
And old men with broken teeth stranded without love.
Do I understand your question, man, is it hopeless and forlorn?
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I bargained for salvation an’ they gave me a lethal dose.
I offered up my innocence and got repaid with scorn.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

Well, I’m livin’ in a foreign country but I’m bound to cross the line
Beauty walks a razor’s edge, someday I’ll make it mine.
If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

Holy Week

Nothin says Holy Week like Shelter from the Storm....part 2 tomorrow

’Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured
I’ll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved
Everything up to that point had been left unresolved.
Try imagining a place where it’s always safe and warm.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail,
Poisoned in the bushes an’ blown out on the trail,
Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

Suddenly I turned around and she was standin’ there
With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair.
She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns.
“Come in,” she said, “I’ll give you shelter from the storm.”

Love the Sinner

Hate the Sin , that's what the church teaches.
If Cardinal Ratzinger decided to forgive Father Murphy rather than put him on internal trial, than that was his decision to make , if the criminal courts went after Father Murphy that would be their decision to make.
To even suggest or consider that Pope Benedict step down would be to say that the Cardinals that elected him were not guided by the Holy Spirit, and that is something I refuse to believe, Father Murphy will or has atoned for his sins at a higher level than the self loathsome scum of this planet.

The End

without debating the merits or lack thereof of obamacare, one must despair with the obvious conclusion that democracy is dead in the united states of America, what we have is two party domination, and whenever you have the numbers in your favor it becomes a land grab, a 2 or 4 year window to jam your personal agenda down the throat of the American people......the states have surrendered their rights to govern themselves , how long before secession and bloody civil war ; if not a second revolution?

quandry or pickle ?

alas my self imposed boycott of all things Bob Weir and Phil Lesh related may in fact be drawing to a close. I have been offered a ticket to the further fest at Cooney Island...we are all in agreement that life is too short for grudges and I have spent some of the greatest nights of my life in the company of the Grateful Dead, so why not go? The truth is I felt very much betrayed by their shameful antics during the 2008 Presidential Campaign, it would never have had happened if Jerome Kahn Garcia were alive and it is not an easy thing to put behind me...I don't think less of them because they are liberals, but obviously they have no use for me because I am a Conservative....so what do we do ?

well i had XM 57 on this morning, just like i do every morning...I truly believe this station was Gods gift to an Ungrateful World, and they played an exuberant version of "Might as Well"........."never had such a good time in my life before, I'd Like to take that Ride Again"

well said Jerome...well said......I am going.

Happy St. Patricks' Day

Just tell me old shipmates, i'm takin a trip mates,
And I'll see you someday on Fiddlers Green.

Happy Evacuation Day and Happy St. Patricks' Day.

find a moment today to quaff a glass of Stoudt and wax poetic for all the Irish Men and Women that left their homeland for whatever reason and made significant contributions into making this country what it is today, remember that nobody is guarenteed to see St.Patricks 2011.

results

action packed day at the ovals......Rachel beaten in her return, Zenyatta rallies from nowhere to win again , Mike Smith made a heart stopping move to the rail after it looked like he was boxed for certain, Lookin at Lucky cam charging from the pack as well, winning a thriller in a photo finish, still THE horse to beat at Churchill. The tampa Bay Derby was one for the book as well, as Schoolyard Dreams appeared to have the race in hand only to have it snagged away in literally the last 3 strides....unreal finish,

i did not see the San Felipe myself, but reports are that Sidneys Candy upset Carrcurtado .......in the spirit of the Olympic games, I hate EVERYTHING named Sidney, so we have to hope this horse goes away an fast.

so who do we like ?

fair question....today we have a gem of a race.....approx 6:47 NY Time , prior to the advancing of said clocks by 60 minutos, The Rebel Stakes marks the return of my pick to win the Derby, LOOKIN AT LUCKY against Mr D Wayne Lukas and his entry DUBLIN .......these two behemoths are expected to duel today and come the first sat in may , my cashola will take a seat atop the Luckster and Bullet Bob.......don't toss NOBLE PROMISE out....he is a quality horse capable of pullin of the upset.

I like SUPER SAVER to win the Tampa Bay Derby and CARACORTADO is the class of the San Felipe. but if it were that easy, I 'd spend my days sipping tall glasses of ale and bettin quinellas instead of slaving at the desk arguing about daytrade calls and option requirements.

so i will pop over to monmouth park at noon , have a few tails, read the program and pluck down a few sheckles on the above mentioned equine heroes, and then it's back to GATO for Trackside Live and a plethora of Adolph Coors secret recipe.

tomorrow is the 9th annual Keith Mcheffey run, start time 11:00 a.m. , as we grow further and further away from the events of that day, it is even more important to remember, and to never forget....party this year is at the Mad Hatter, hope to see some familiar faces there ......"see you at the party richter"

saddle up

what pray tell is a better way to spend a monsoon saturday than to imbibe the fruit of the gods and watch the ponies in club gato? we work hard all week ( well not this week we didn't) for a respite come Friday night....out of the darkness comes the bugle call , a veritable call to arms......RIDERS UP they command from above, second only to the craic of a bottle of beer twisting free from its lid in terms of harmony, rhapsody and joy.....small fortunes are won and lost in a whistle of a moment , near the paddock and the slop and the mud.....and down that stretch they come.

words and music

It's a long, long way from Clare here
It's a long, long way from Clare here
Oh it's a long, long way it gets further day by day
It's a long, long way from Clare here

When Friday night comes around, he's only into fighting
My ma would like a letter home, but I'm too tired for writing
And the only time I feel all right is when I'm into drinking
It eases off the pain a bit and levels out my thinking

it's a long, long way from Clare to here.
