They are a different breed, no lawsuit; although dozens of lawyers assured them they were entitled to millions, they turned their attention to their sons legacy, Mr Sullivan quit his job as an engineer and began volunteering with the horizon group, a charity that helps tutor and financially support kids from inner city Chicago, he is now the CFO of the charity, and they took initial donations and were able to create Declan’s kids...a small group of kids each year that received their attention....this year that group rose to Declan’s 90...amazing how some can turn tragedy into opportunities for others....you probably won’t see the Sullivan family on the pregame show as they shun the spotlight ( although kudos to both espn and sports illustrated for airing and writing stories about their charitable work......I did say 2 prayers didn’t I ? .....oh yes, say a prayer that the smug, arrogant, cocksucker that sent that boy to his death is haunted for eternity for his cowardice.....and while you’re at it, say a prayer that Clemson kicks their fuckin ass on the field. ...” You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye Who cheer when soldier lads march by, Sneak home and pray you'll never know The hell where youth and laughter go”..

For a poet iand a one man band (Simon & that other guy)....well I am that one man band....and my stops are neatly planned....today I’m headed to Bethlehem ( no , not Jesus) Pennsylvania....we have a wedding there on Saturday night....but today my solo mission is to roam the streets of downtown Bethlehem, searching for beer and the ghosts of a forgotten past....to walk the ancient empty streets ( too dead for dreaming)..I have come A day early with a list of establishments I wish to explore....I was bitten by the Kerouac bug at a young age....the nomadic caravan of traveling with the Grateful Dead, my years in the navy sailing the 7 continents and my sojourns on Amtrak , cross crossing the country and following the party....I was blessed with a good memory and I never forget a bar ...I would like to think that if I were dropped out of a space shuttle orbiting the earth, that I could find a suitable public house for Ales and tales within the hour....assuming of course one could survive re-entering earths atmosphere....but not only would I find a bar, but I would have it stored in the cognitive part of the brain from a visit in this lifetime....real or imagined.....today I take the train to the port authority and a bus back to Bethlehem....I quench my thirst in RIPPERS , have lunch in fegleys, pop into HARD BALL CIDER for what else ? A cider, down the hill for some whiskey in the Red Stag and some local craft beer in Joe’s Tavern....that should bring me to 3oclock, whenst I can Uber to my hotel and check in...the evening requires a shirt change and a new set of bars in the Lehigh valley....pj whelihans, Maloney’s ( I think) and dinner in a steak place called PRIME....but I doubt it is....night caps will be offered to all still standing at the lobby bar of my hotel...and one hundred thousand years from now I will still recall the names, faces and the stories they will tell...from a tiki bar in Fort Lauderdale in the early stages of dementia, I may ramble a sentence or two about this very day , before snapping to attention and the tasks at hand....leaving all within earshot confused BUT amused....But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me”

Seems there was an earthquake there

Left nothin’ but a Panama hat And a pair of old Greek shoes ( Dylan )....or maybe it was a hurricane that Panama City this day.....reminds me of animated character of the night from my Navy years... a story I shared with Dano because he had a keen infatuation with the true insane creatures that roam the earth, and he thought it was amusing that I would cross paths with these folks ...”nuts attract nuts” dano would say....ah , but I digress...let me try to share the story of ole Alvarez....it’s a better story in person....in the spring of 1989 I was transitioning out of the US Navy, I was being processed in Pensacola Fla, but still had an apartment with my shipmates in Pascagoula MS.....so on fridays I would take a greyhound bus through Alabama to Mississippi ( I know I have told stories about mobile al in the past ) ....but on particular Friday I met a shipmate by the name of Chris ( smith or Schneider) waiting for the bus to MS...he introduced me to a fellow squid by the name of Alvarez, Alvarez was 30 going on 65....he too was leaving the Navy ( against his will) and eventually going home to Panama City Fla......Alvarez spoke very little English despite 10 years in uncleSams service , but he smiled a lot and was a bonafide alcoholic, no strings attached.... Chris assured me he was a good and I saw nothing to the contrary...it being Friday ( a day that ends in Y ) we decided to get some adult beverages for the ride.....I bought 12 pints of Budweiser and a styrofoam cooler w ice ....Chris and Alvarez went for a 64 ounce bottle of jack daniels...no chaser nor ice...we hit a bar before the bus came...it was late, we were pretty drunk when we got on the bus...at this point it was difficult to understand Alvarez, but his Sherpa guide CHRIS was doing his best to translate...we finally got on the bus and each took our own 2 seater in the back....me and ole Alvarez say across from each other and CHRIS sat in front of me....about 11 seconds into a 5 hour ride it started “hey Chris , hey Chris, CHREEES ?” Alvarez would say in his Mexican accent.....what do you want Chris would reply...” I drink...a little bit of the jack Daniels please, Chris “ .....to which Chris would reply “go ahead “and Alvarez would smile at me, unscrew the cap and guzzle some JD......and he was content...for about 3 minutes....until..... “ hey Chris, hey Chris. Chreeeeese? Until Chris gave his approval for another sip.....and Alvarez would smile from ear to ear after he took each sip......Chris would occasionally ask for the bottle and take a guzzle and they would pass it to me and I would offer them a pint... and so it went....about an hour into the trip Chris said he was going to try to sleep and that Alvarez didn’t have to ask permission every time he wanted to take a drink....Alvarez either didn’t understand or was a slave to protocol, because on it went across the great state of Alabama....”hey Chris, hey Chris “.... sometimes he would say that 10,15 times before Chris said what....”I drink....a little bit...of the jack Daniels please “......to his credit, despite my URGING, Alvarez refused to take a guzzle until Chris gave him the green light....2,3,4 and 5 hours later “ hey Chris, hey Chris “.....sometimes Chris would start screaming at him to let him sleep and go ahead and drink the fucking jack Daniels, the rest of the bus would look back at the three of us inquisitively ...and on it went.... we rolled into Pascagoula after midnight and I of course offered the two of them to crash at the apartment I was sharing with my shipmates and they accepted....the next morning Chris and Alvarez headed into town for a hotel......I saw Chris solo Sunday night on the bus to Pensacola and he told me Alvarez went crazy Saturday night and was locked up in the Mississippi police station...not a good place for a Mexican..... I never saw him again, but I would leave dano messages on his answering machine for 28 years imitating Alvarez....dano never met him, but he would imitate him too.....I miss both of those guys, true characters of the long dark night.

Till Greed got in the way ( B.Dylan) ...well Bob Dylan may have been singing about Unions in the U.S. , but he easily could have been referring to major league sports in the 21st century...a mere 10 years ago , before i began distancing myself from the professional game ( at one time or another I had season tickets for the Rangers, the Football Giants and I attended a dozen baseball games a year)....I was planning a trip to see the Amazin Mets verse the orioles in the charmed city....and why not, it was a short 2.5 hour ride, had a nice seaport with great bars and nightlife and the ballpark was a fun place...a no brainer....until I called customer service...despite false advertisement on their website, group tickets were not really on sale....if I wanted 20 tickets to Mets/orioles, I had to buy 20 tix to 2 other orioles games....,.why would I do that ? I wouldn’t......OR I could wait until they went on sale to the general public....I did....but when they did I found out that in order to buy tix to the mets, yanks or red Sox games the first week they were on sale, I had to have a credit card with a Maryland address....seems they were embarrassed by all of the fans from those 3 teams outnumbering the locals...and so I passed on tix as i am sure most NY ers did...fast forward to last nights game at Camden yards...a robust 20,000 fans in attendance and at least 25,000 empty seats ...fuck you Baltimore...... Well, the job that you used to have... They gave it to somebody down in El Salvador.. The unions are big business, friend And they’re goin’ out like a dinosaur... They used to grow food in Kansas Now they want to grow it on the moon and eat it raw.... I can see the day coming when even your home garden Is gonna be against the law...

so last night I found myself sitting in the backyard as I often do, and I decide to start a FIRENZE FIRE in the old fire pit....I figured I was just a FLAMEAWAY from the PRMISES FULFILLED and so I poured a glass of VINO ROSSI and stared at the incredible MAGNUM MOON, I was ENTICED to sing ole SOLOMINI,...and I wondered how many LONE SAILOR were doing the same....just then I thought I heard MY BOY JACK comimg up the driveay with HOFFBURG and so I rushed with great BRAVAZO to BOLT D'ORO.....I was not in a COMBATANT mood and I really didn't need those MENDELSSOHN's with their INSTILLED REGARD. maybe I was to hasty, maybe I shouldn't have given the the FREE DROP BILLY...I mean after all they can be NOBLE INDY, they can stir up some GOOD MAGIC, but in the end, I don't have to JUSTIFY my AUDIBLE............and that boys and girls is the play today....AUDIBLE to win with Justify and Good Magic, and Magnum Moon to round out the supefecta....Good Luck to All.........I lost a valued reader this week, some of the fun of typing this nonsense left with him....lets enjoy what we got while we have it.

I don't remember the media camping outside the football stadium asking for interviews and student reaction....the complacent murderers are still awaiting trial on minor charges ( the more serious ones were apparently dismissed) although good luck finding details online.... it's as though it never happened.....rest in peace Tim, some of us will never forget......."don't speak too soon for the wheels still in spin....and there's no telling who that's it's naming.

It's excessive rent hikes Everytime a business shows a profit that is really killing the bricks and mortar.....let's use a Bar as an example.....you can't buy beer or social interaction on Amazon ( yet)...but how many highly successful bars close every year because they can't keep up with the rent... Gilmour)......... everyone is up in arms over school shootings....all the teachers unions are also furious about the President's suggestion to arm teachers.( Nobody wants to see a 70 year old Mrs Witherow packing a Glock as our security detail) , but I have a suggestion......PHYS ED.....the jackalope gym teacher....every school has one...why ? Eliminate gym..... give the kids back gym time and allow them to use that period how they see fit ... unsupervised.....shoot hoops, take a walk, take a nap, whatever........and the gym teachers ? Offer them firearm training and reclassify them as onsite security....they maintain their teacher benefits, they can teach health classes or supervise study hall, but they carry weapons and engage shooters..... only shooters....they don't become cops and glorified security guards breaking up cafeteria fights.....if they don't want to do it, then they have to transition back to the classroom and become qualified to teach another subject..... nobody is forced to become the secret security....but I tend to think a lot of young, healthy gym teachers will accept their new role.....if not, we have lots of returning military already trained to handle weapons that would love the benefits, pensions and summer vacations that comes with being a teacher.....and seriously, should we really being paying someone to teach teenagers how to play dodge ball ?

Howling at the blood on the moon "...... well it's true, the faster we go, the rounder we get and strange strange occurrences in the desert...... sweater nite is taking on a different feel as we sail into the uncharted Waters of number 20....as most of you know, we were approached by the friends of MoMo ( Maureen Nolan) and asked to share the evening portion of PC'S with a benefit for Maureen as she battles cancer.... and of course we were eager to oblige..... so the tentative timeline has USA v Russia at 6:00 a.m. location to be determined....the Blueshirts dropping the puck at 2:00....a hot buffet served approx 3:30......Mac & Mike (aka Richie Havens)open the festival at 5:00.....the benefit kicks off at 6:00....a second set of music and raffles followed by a second round of the buffet..... somewhere in there I begin speaking Mandarin with a touch of swaheely, hopefully my disguise will keep the knife weilding ninjas away from my thumb..... we have geusts coming in from far and wide.... I'm cautiously optimistic that we ring up one for the ages...a night to remember... celebrating 2 decades of dominance in the 209..... this one will really be different, I'd be lying if I didn't admit to waking up with cold sweats from time to time....let's hope everything goes well... in case you missed it.....a U.S. Veterans group applied to take out a full page ad in this years super bowl program....the ad displayed an honor guard with fill colors and a simple caption......#Pleasestand.....at the bottom of the ad was a request for donations to veterans support groups......the nfl said NO FUCKING WAY and rejected the ad...their reason ?? they did not want the super bowl program to become a platform for political statements......I swear to God that was their official response.......so in case you keeping score at home.....the Miscreant, Slobs and Thugs that play in this league can use the National Anthem and a national tv audience as their platform to disrespect this country and our Police Forces' , but a Group of Veterans cannot take out an AD in a program asking/urging the fans in attendance to do what their fucking parents should have already taught them.....STAND for the ANTHEM.....as the ratings continue to dive off a cliff, you really don't have to look too far to find a reason....#boycottthenfl
