In the moonlight....in the midnight

If you ever feel sorrow for the deeds you have done
With no hope for tomorrow in the setting of the sun
And the ocean is howling for the things that might have been
And that last good morning sunrise will be the brightest you've ever seen.

Lord keep an eye out for a good friend named Danny Mccurdy, you called him this morning, he will be missed terribly here in the Redrock and greater Redbank area....A good man , a funny sob, a kind soul.

Rest In Peace Danny.....Gene Mumford was the man and I’ll take that to my grave.

sometimes i don't know where

This dirty road is taking me
Sometimes I can't even see the reason why
I guess I keep a-gamblin'
Lots of booze and lots of ramblin'
It's easier than just waitin' around to die  ( Townes Van Zandt)

well friends it's not that dire, but such an awesome song that sums up Corona 19 for so many, that I just had to use it.

Truth is , what we talked about in mid March has of course come to fruition. Gov Cuomo went to D.C. yesterday for a meeting with the President and by all accounts it went well......except for one quote by the NY State Governor that caught my attention. Cuomo praised the paycheck bill that was approved last night but then he asked a frightening question...…"it's great to support little business and allow them to continue to pay their employees but what about funding for Police ? what about funding for Fire Depts and Schools ? "

First...let's differentiate……..small business ( bars, restaurants, nail salons, etc etc) were ordered to close because they were deemed Non Essential.....that decision was made the by the states and cities ( ie walter Wilhelm)...in some cases absolut Draconian measures were taken.....in some cases personal animas came into play and local governments decided to close gun shops because hey....they don't like guns...….their decisions were not to be questioned and or debated......out of an abundance of caution they knowingly closed their states......even forbid evictions......even encouraged Mortgage Bankers to allow a 90 day deferral ( no mention of property taxes, but that's a different story) ...in any event they ALL went before the cameras to defend their decisions...ok...…..and when the President talked about restarting the economy they shouted him down...….and reminded him that it was under THEIR Authority to reopen their states....NOT the Federal Govt......ok.

Police, Fire, Transit  and School Teachers are deemed essential and have remained open and continue to get paid...…..problem is the magic waterfall the funds the never-ending pool that pays everyone has been turned OFF...…..Taxes, Taxes, Taxes.....that's where the secret $$ comes from....and when you close your state you turn off the spigot .

And so now we will begin to hear the trickles from Gov Cuomo that States like NY and NJ ( that Tax everything to Death and still manage to spend more than they could ever take in  ) for the Federal Govt to somehow fund these states...……….well just like Nancy and Schmucky Schumer insisted that any Company that accepted Govt $$ would have to allow Govt oversight ( no dividends, Bonus payments or Stock Buybacks and other ridiculous restrictions like adding minorities and women to the board of directors,,,not because they are qualified, but rather just because)….I say if any of these states are given a DIME , then their future budgets must be balanced and approved by the Fed Govt and they MUST repay every single penny...……….

This pandemic could not have been imagined a year ago......but the Civil War it may ignite has been talked about on this blog for many a years...….

now.....more importantly....the question at hand.....should I kill myself NOW,  or wait until A-Rod buys the Mets ? ?

Together we're gonna wait around and die
Together we're gonna wait around and die

Fun facts to raise your blood pressure

Under the ridiculous CARES Act.......Hedge funds can and have applied for Loans ( under the definition of a small business) and online Gamblers in Nevada can classify themselves as self employed independent contractors and file for unemployment.....not a joke.

silver linings

it's not always easy to find some good news in the midst of a global pandemic , but let's what we can do on this day 35 of quasi isolation.

  • "it's like that song about the twelve days of Christmas, without the stupid pear tree and all those birds" that was how Steve McEvoy described the unintended benefit of FREE golf at the abandoned Dyker beach Golf Course...…"there was no backup on the 10th tee box and there's always a backup on 10 ! , and they don't even chase you off during the week, just hop one fence and your good to go".....that was until the NY Post did their exclusive expose about scofflaws playing free golf...….ah , but we are staying positive this Friday so let's focus on the long suffering golf playing public of South Brooklyn enjoying a months worth of Fast, Cheap , worry free golf...and did I mention it was FREE.

  •  Recipe Exchange: I participated in a recipe exchange yesterday and after much trepidation decided to share my secret recipe for Peace, Love and Understanding...it's a recipe that has been shared for generations on the shores of bayridge, The Schoolyards and 76th street stairs all the way to the Promenade at Riis Park and Breezy Point....enjoy

  • Step 1 ) place 30 to 60 cans of beer in an ordinary cooler

Step 2) place two bags of Thomas Ice ( or equivalent) on top of the beer

Step 3 ) turn on the Grateful Dead channel 23 on Sirius ( very loud)

Step 4) allow beer to sit in melting ice for a spell

Step 5 ). Drink an ice cold beer.

    Step  6-60) repeat step 5.

  •  Lastly.....today marks 3 weeks of shutdown at the new Belmont arena construction site. As previously reported the arena "live cam"  depicts at least 5 Tee Pees on he grounds , as a small tribe of Shinnecock Indians have relocated to the site and claimed the land for their ancestors, the builders for the site Sterling Equities ( aka Jeff Wilponzi and the Metropolitan baseball team) are seriously considering filing for bankruptcy to take advantage of Federal Bailouts. This coupled with the loss of revenue for the last month of the season has pushed the hockey club to their own precipice of Chapter 11....we did reach out to John Ledecky for comment last night but it was the busy time for the Local Chicken Delight where he picked up a few shifts making deliveries and he was out on a run and could not be reached...…and as hockey withers and dies on the vine  our Commander in Chief has vowed to get Baseball back on the field...as the President said and i qoute " I'm tired of watching Baseball games from 14 years ago" us too Mister President.......us too.
