Hope springs eternal

Well-a, beat the drum and hold the phone,
The sun came out today.
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home,
It's a brown-eyed handsome man,
Anyone can understand the way I feel.......(John fogerty)

Perfect lyrics for a perfect day......no matter how much I whine and drone about the demise of our great game, it’s still OUR Great Game.....Our National pastime...the boys of summer...and nothing compares with opening day...everyone is tied for first...rounding third and headed for home....God Bless America....and shine down on our beloved Metropolitans whilst you are at it.

on a long and lonsesome highway, east of omaha

yesterday as a light rain fell on the streets of bayridge, in a quiet unassuming bar and even less ceremonious atmosphere, I said goodbye to my former head linesman...perhaps forever.....he's off battle life's demons on greener pastures, and a newer and different battlefield with a fresh set of combatants on the foreign shores of the sunshine state.....I will miss him for sure, but truth be told ive been missing him for a longtime already....he checked out of our circle 18 months ago,  for whatever reason I know not what for.....he was top 5 interesting, entertaining and funny when he was in his prime, he probably never should have left bayridge in the 1st place....he had a good tun in the Garden Satate but it ended terribly and he was never quite the same...he was a modern day walter mitty, an ever changing chameleon, he struggled with the basic truths but he sure was funny and told a great story...i'll save his obituary for when he truky dies not just metaphorically.....I wish him well and I hope he makes peace with himself and enjoys whats left of this life......as bob seger says...."there we goo, turn the page"

“All the things I planned to do

I only did halfway, tomorrow will Be Sunday; born a rainy Saturday “ (Garcia)
More sad news out of Met land and a bitter reminder that our time is fleeting.....Dementia, Alzheimer’s and a stroke are the 3 things that scare me the most....not even the Great Tom Seaver is immune......the legend, the Franchise...has retired from public life as a result of Dementia....just a few short months shy of the honoring of the 1969 Mets 50th Anniversary.....how empty and hollow that celebration will be without TomTerrific .....my namesake, my boyhood idol and hero...he was an all around gentleman and good citizen....run out of town by 2 scumbags.....m Donald grant and dick young ( that filthy douche reporter who trashed Seaver to gain favors from Mets management)....and all these years later the met faithful are still begging for a statue ....maybe now the wilponzis will finally concede.................8 million memories of Tom Terrific , today I will share a funny one.....on or about August 3rd 1985 I was on weekend leave from the Great Lakes naval station and was enjoying a few cold beeeeers on Chicago’s north side with Donnie Hoff, Steve Collins and Eddie G...it was a Sunday afternoon and although the Mets were playing the cubs in wrigley we did not go ( we had been there the day prior) nope...we found a bar to watch the Yankees game as they honored their longtime shortstop and announcer o on Phil Rizzutto Day.....luckily they were playing the White Sox and the game would be televised in Chicago ( long before espn and the mlb network, you couldn’t always watch whatever game you wanted).....oh , but we weren’t tuning in to see the Yankees....no sir ....as luck would have it......George Thomas Seaver took his 299 wins to the mound that day and absolutely silenced the Yankees bats before a sold out crowd and a multitude of METSIE jerseys in yankee stadium....we roared and cheered our approval in a Windy City gin mill in the most surreal surrounding ever.......the bartenders seemed perplexed why a group of New Yorkers were feverishly pulling for the Chisox..... Tom Terrrific got # 300 that day and we got another memory for a lifetime.....safe travels Mr. Seaver, a scary road ahead, we wish you well.....

AOC ......all out crazy

Curtis sliwa coined that nickname for the junior congressman from Astoria , and he’s right on the mark .......her latest brilliant idea is to tax each and every financial transaction, yes; every trade will carry a  surcharge.....again misguided govt involvement where it doesn’t belong and it will have an adverse effect.....my union friends with pensions sb concerned because I promise you that the Fat Cat Wall Street firms will find away to make up for list revenue......they will simply increase fees for managing your pension......the private sector has the brightest legal minds and pays handsomely for their advice, they are always 3 steps ahead of any govt regulations or new tax.

He who cannot be trusted

must fail “ ( Dylan) ....oh Bob , if only it were that easy....the rumbling aftershocks of hypocrisy will one day destroy this country like an earthquake from the highest mount....yesterday the same SCUM that insisted “any deal was better than no deal “ while defending the Obama/Kerry iran deal ( you know, the deal that sent 150 billion dollars to Iran for a ten year break in their nuclear program and a lifting of economic sanctions)..well they pushed their way to the microphone to say President Trup should not trust nor accept a deal with North Korea.....I agree with those sentiments but sadly their motives are to deny President Trump a victory .......even if it was a perfect deal they would oppose.....and if it was obama or Hillary or Bernie or AOC , and it was a horrible deal paying Kim jung in BILLIONS to be our friend for a photo shoot, they would trip over themselves to appluad the deal and demand a Nobel Peace prize ........
“Memory, ecstasy, tyranny, hypocrisy...
Betrayed by a kiss on a cool night of bliss
In the valley of the missing link...
And you have no time to think”
