Robert Byrnes Reports....you decide....

Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago !

Chorus:
For old long ago, my dear
For old long ago,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For old long ago.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since old long ago.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill draught (of ale)
For old long ago!

And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago!

as reported by Fox news...CHANGE ??

Barack Obama insists that he and his staff were not involved in the alleged schemes Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich cooked up to sell off the president-elect's vacant Senate seat.

But the timeline of activity outlined in the FBI's 76-page complaint against Blagojevich suggests Obama's team was aware that his home-state governor was playing political hardball in the weeks before his arrest.

That's because shortly after Blagojevich allegedly told his advisers, in an expletive-laced conference call, that he would not appoint Obama's pick to the Senate absent huge favors in return, Obama's apparent pick promptly dropped out of the running for the Senate and joined the new White House staff.

"Reading between the lines ... clearly somebody from (Obama's) operation did have a conversation with Blagojevich," Democratic strategist Bob Beckel told FOX News. He added that Obama's representative evidently wasn't trying to cut a deal since Blagojevich indicated he was "getting nothing out of the Obama people."

FOX News has confirmed that Valerie Jarrett, a senior Obama adviser, is the individual identified in the Blagojevich affidavit as Senate Candidate 1.

The affidavit states that Senate Candidate 1 was likely to be supported by Obama for the seat, and that the Illinois governor was mulling a variety of ways to capitalize on such an appointment. Blagojevich allegedly wanted a corporate board appointment for his wife or millions in donations to a non-profit organization for his benefit, or even an appointment as secretary of health and human services, in exchange for appointing Senate Candidate 1. (Obama nominated former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle for the Cabinet post Blagojevich wanted on Thursday.)

But in the series of wiretapped conversations detailed in the complaint, Blagojevich and his advisers made clear that Obama was not willing to trade anything for the appointment of Senate Candidate 1.

An apparently disappointed Blagojevich discussed the post on a two-hour conference call Nov. 10 with his wife, his general counsel, his chief of staff John Harris (who also was arrested), and "various Washington, D.C., advisers."

"F--- him. For nothing? F--- him," Blagojevich said in response to advice that he wouldn't get anything out of Obama, according to the court document. Blagojevich said he would not pick Senate Candidate 1 without some kind of reward.

The next day, the complaint shows Blagojevich spoke with Harris about the seat, and said of Obama, "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. F--- them."

If Obama and his staff didn't know anything about these conversations, then Jarrett at least exercised good timing.

By Nov. 12, news reports broke that Jarrett was no longer interested in the Senate seat. The affidavit shows Harris took this as a bluff.

But two days later, reports broke that Jarrett would be named Obama's senior adviser and assistant for intergovernmental relations in the White House. By Saturday, it was official, and Jarrett was out of the running for Senate.

It's unclear who, if anybody, could have notified Obama about Blagojevich's demands. The "various Washington, D.C., advisers" are not named. The affidavit also says Blagojevich met with a Service Employees International Union official, whom Blagojevich understood to be "an emissary" sent to discuss Senate Candidate 1.

This individual also is not named.

Obama, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, said at a press conference Thursday that not only has he never engaged the governor on the topic of his Senate seat, but "I am confident that no representative of mine would have any part in any deals related to this seat."

He said he has asked his team to compile any information they might have about any contact with the Illinois governor's office regarding his Senate seat, so that he can share that information with the public. But he said he is "absolutely certain" his aides were not involved in any alleged dealmaking.

The affair, nevertheless, has caused headaches for the popular president-elect, who faces accusations from Republicans that he's not being completely honest about who knew what when.

"There's still a lot of questions out there," said Michael Steele, former Maryland lieutenant governor who is running for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee. "I think the president-elect did try his best to sort of isolate himself from this. Now the staff and the folks who are representing him, that's a different issue."

RNC Chairman Mike Duncan released a written statement Thursday accusing Obama of providing "less than forthcoming answers to simple questions" about Blagojevich.

"While it is encouraging that the President-elect has stated his office will disclose contacts with the scandal-ridden governor, it remains disappointing that his actions are in response to political pressure," he said.

Hello Darkness my old friend

So Gov Blago referred to the Obama camp as those Mother&8%!!'s for not wanting to do business with them in the selling of his senator seat.... and obama himself chuckled at the expletive directed at him.....he said I am sure they made some unrepeatable remarks about our staff.........but alas, does this not indicate that the obama camp was at the VERY least approached by the Gov with regards to the appointment of his successor......and even if they did not play ball , certainly they knew exactly what the Gov was up to........does that not make them aparty to the crime?

obama by the way went from saddened , to outraged .....what changed overnight.....why the sudden outrage ?

and now on day 3 of the scandal we are treated to the "Sounds of Silence" from the President Elect.......

the wrds of the prophets are written on the subway walls.....or in this case ths treets of ghaza.......obama inshallah !

curioser and curiouser....as howard would say

I am not a detective and have never claimed to be one, but I am a very logical person and I like to think I have a good deal of common sense....and yet I am at a loss on this one....someone out there please explain to me the following.

You have a wire tap in place on Gov Blagojevich , you hear conversations where he indicates he is not going to give away the golden ticket of naming obamas senatorial replacement without lining his own pockets........you already have that on tape.....why oh why do you go public and make the arrest now ???

Would it not be more prudent to wait and see who came a knockin on Blago's door ? and then take that criminal down as well ? who could it be knockin at that door ?
Dare I speculate ....Jessie Jackson Sr ? Warren Buffett ?? or someone from the outgoing Senators camp ???

Was the Govt fearful of complete and total collapse of our Political System is the "Annoited One" was embroiled in a scandal before he takes the oath of office..

Not to worry ......obama immediately grabbed the mike and told us all that he was "saddened" by the events that were taking place.........now that's change we can believe in.

Yep....another bailout for the suits on wall street....oh well.

Great Race for a Great Man

tomorrow morning on the hills and slopes of the Garden State Arts center parking lot is the third annual "Run with Dennis" 3.5 mile race the Late Lt Dennis Zllinski....I am running and I will be packing a cooler for the post-race if anyone is around...below is a recap of Denniss's life and untimely death.

Dennis W. Zilinski, II was born on December 23, 1981. He is the son of Dennis W. and Marion R. Zilinski, grandson of Anna Zilinski, brother of Douglas and his wife ToniAnn, Arizona, Michele and her husband David, Arizona, Tiffany and her fiancé James, New Jersey and 2Lt. Matthew J. Zilinski, NJARNG, New Jersey. Dennis has four nephews and two nieces.

Dennis’ greatest loves were God, his family, country, friends, swimming and the United States Army. Dennis was a very willing person who would drop everything to help you. His trademark was his wonderful smile, always beaming.

Dennis grew up in Middletown, New Jersey a member of the Middletown Reformed Church and attended school at Middletown Village, Thorne Middle School and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft. He received his nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 2004. He also completed Airborne School while a student at West Point.

Prior to attending college, Dennis was a swimmer with the Red Bank YMCA for many years, and continued to swim at Christian Brothers Academy. While attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, he was the Captain of the men’s team as a Firstie (Senior) and was awarded the Class of 1923 Memorial Award for Outstanding Member of Men’s Team and the Captain Michael W. Kilroy Memorial Award for the Captain of the Men’s Swim Team.

Upon completion of Officer Basic Course in Ft. Benning, GA, Dennis was accepted into Ranger School and graduated in March of 2005. Being awarded his Ranger “Tab” was probably his highest achievement as an Army officer. He was so proud of his accomplishment. Dennis truly lived by West Point’s motto of DUTY, HONOR, and COUNTRY, and stood behind the nation’s mission 100%, ready to serve and protect the freedoms so many citizens cherish. He also lived by the Army values of LOYATY, DUTY, RESPECT, SELFLESS-SERVICE, HONOR, INTEGRITY, PERSONAL COURAGE.

After graduation from Ranger School, he was assigned to the 1/187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) “Rakkasan”. He deployed with the 101st Airborne Division on September 17, 2005. Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II died in Iraq on November 19, 2005 as a result of a roadside bombing near Bayji, 155 miles north of Baghdad. Lt. Zilinski’s medals include: Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Global War on Terror, Iraq Campaign Service Medal and the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal.

At the time of his death, Dennis was engaged to Lt. Marie Cicerelle, who is also stationed with the 101st Airborne Division and they planned to married upon their return from Iraq in 2006. Marie continues to serve in the Army.

In an act of love, the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Fund has been established by his friends and his family. The first Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Run/Walk was held in November of 2006. The second Run/Walk will be held on November 11, 2007 at the PNC Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ. it's a beautiful day in the neighorHOOD

it warmed my heart to see my african brothers whooping it up in harlem tuesday night, bangin on the drums and dancing that special dance that only they can. it was a new begining for them and Hopefully an end for the rest of us.

* Surely now that an african American has reached the highest post in the land we can't sit here and say with a straight face that the deck is stacked against "them".

* Surely we can't say that the african Americans are facing an uphill battle to survive in this country.

* Surely our Colleges and Universities will stop tripping over themselves to give scholarships to any black student that bothers to take the SAT's

* Surely Affirmitive action and quotas will dissapear from our vernacular.

* Surely they will loose status as a "minority" and will finally be treated like every other race and creed that struggled to succeed in this land of oppurtunity.

* Surely the liberals will search out middle class white males and take up our causes and incessantly whine on our behalf.

* Surely now the african Americans will finally join society and live by our social norms and morees......they can't sit on the stoop drinkin 40's and complaining about "the Man" anymore....can they?

Yes siree it's a great day to be an American.....isnt it ?

I must admit I feel as though a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders....for the past 8 years I have defended my country, my Commander in Chief and my Military aginst verbal onslaughts both domestic and abroad. It is going to be sooo much easier to sit around and nitpick and find fault with everything the Govt does......what a great day in the hood.

lets just hope al-queda follows ossama obamas lead and spreads the wealth....why should NY get all the attacks....let Chicago experience the next one.

Africa wins

KOGELO, Kenya -- Barack Obama's Kenyan family erupted in cheers Wednesday, singing "We are going to the White House!" as their relative became the first African-American to be elected U.S. president, they proceeded to feast on chitlins, wild boar ribs and a local brew similar to it's American cousin "RIPPLE".

In the western village of Kogelo, where the president-elect's late father was born, police had to tighten security to prevent hordes of media and others from entering the rural homestead of Obama's step-grandmother, Shineeh.

But the elderly woman and several other relatives came outside Wednesday to cheer for Obama in a country where the Democrat is seen as a "son of the soil." They cheered, danced and sang "lets kill whitey" in the Luo language before heading back inside the compound.

Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki declared a public holiday on Thursday in honor of Obama's election victory, even though 98% of the nation is currently unemployed.

Across Africa -- where Obama is wildly popular -- people stayed up all night or woke before dawn Wednesday to watch the U.S. election results roll in. In the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, people chanted "Unga Bunga Bunga Obama!" as the results were announced on television.

"He's sooo black...and moslem!" said Rachel Ndimu, 23, a business student who joined hundreds of others at the residence of the U.S. ambassador for an election party that began at 5 a.m. "I think this is awesome, and the whole world is backing him."

Many people hope an Obama presidency will help this vast continent, the poorest in the world. Some are looking for more U.S. aid to Africa, others simply bask in the glory of a successful black politician with African roots.

Obama was born in Hawaii, where he spent most of his childhood sniffing glue and burning the uS Flag. He barely knew his late father. But that has not stopped "Obamamania" from sweeping the continent, and particularly Kenya, where charcoal sketches of him adorn billboards and minibuses.

Hundreds of chanting people marched through the streets of Kibera shineytown, one of Africa's largest slums, cheering Obama's win.

Samuel Ouma, 36, said Obama's victory alleviated some of the pain suffered in December after Kenya's disatrous presidential election, which unleashed weeks of violence here.

"We finally have got the stolen election," he said.

His friend, Kennedy Obdiero, added: "God has rewarded us triplefold."

Gibson Gaitho, 14, said he does not believe an Obama presidency will change his life much, but he said he is inspired by the rise of a man with Kenyan roots. "Who knows, maybe someday we can even play in the NHL."

"As Kenyans we feel like absolute spooks," said Gaitho, whose teachers at Mangu Unga Bunga Denis Nolan High School in Thika brought the students to watch the results as they poured out of big chimney in sky before heading back to class on a school donkey later Wednesday.

"But we know Obama will be working for Al Queda," said Gaitho, who was wearing his traditional orange jumpsuit.

On a much lighter note, millions of african't Americans awoke this morning and were terribly dissapointed to discover they were still black......"this can't be" cried former basketball standout Baskerville Holmes....."I looked in the mirror and there was a shine staring back at me"............president elect osama bib obamma said he'll gets rights to work on fixin it.

There you stood on the edge of your feather,
Expecting to fly.
While I laughed, I wondered whether
I could wave goodbye, (Buffalo springfield)

And so as a Nation we stand on the precipice of disaster and I wonder how many of us will never get the chance to say goodbye. 7 years after the most catstrophic attack on Amercian soil we stand ready to elect a terrorist sympathizer to be our president, a man who for 20 years sat in his pew and listened to his Rev Shout "God Dam America"........are we such a nation of self loathsome creeps, feeling so guilty about something in the past , so convinced we are going to hell that we insist on bringing the rest of the nation with us ? is that the majority in America this day ?

As the rest of the world slowly emerges from centuries of communism and socialism, of dictators and despots, and embraces the ideals of Capitalism and Freedom , we as a Nation seem willing to take a step back into the darkness........if it were not so serious , it would be comical.

forgive me if I do not get the chance to say goodbye in person.....and oh yeah, after we're gone....pls wear a button that proclaims "NEVER FORGET" the next tragedy.......which by the way barrack...it wasn't a tragedy, or tsunami or earthquake......it was x$@3!! MURDER.

Vote your conscience today friends....vote your conscience.

Eagle Bank Bound.....

I am not sure about my loyal readers, but attending a College Football BOWL game is on the short list of things I have never done in my sports viewing life......The US Naval Academy has accepted an invitation to the Innaugaral EagleBank Bowl in RFK Stadium on Saturday Dec 20th at 11:00 A.M...........I AM going....even if i take amtrak and the metro solo....but I AM going.........take a week and think it over.....if we can scrape together 4, 6, or 8 guys we can make a trip out of it.....we could go down Friday Night after work , or even just drive down for the day Sturday........it is the Saturday before Christmas, so schedules may be tight....but if your interested, let me know soon........

*** as an added bonus....our opponent , although not yet named....will be from the ACC .......which could be very interesting......Boston College maybe ? Ga tech and Coach Johnsons yellow jackets ? Miami or Fla State ? Maryland??

never say die.

tounges will be waggin from coast this morn about the Black radiers ( black jerseys anyway) of Tex tech and their big upset of the #1 horns......and rightfully so , it was a mde for espn moment.

but lost in the shuffle was a group of young men that fought back from 20 points in the 4rth quarter.....7 points down in the final 40 seconds, without the ball....to gain their 6th win of the season and once again become bowl eligible.......maybe if spoertscenter expand to a 90 minute version they might sneak this score in there.....but I doubt it.

Navy rallies from 20 down, finishes Temple in overtime
Team Stat Comparison

Associated Press
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo sat at the interview table, unable to formulate a proper explanation for what he had just witnessed.

"I'm kind of stunned right now," he said. "The way [we] won that game is just unbelievable."

The Midshipmen rallied from a 20-point deficit in the final 14 minutes, then used a 1-yard touchdown run by backup quarterback Ricky Dobbs in the first overtime to defeat mistake-prone Temple 33-27 Saturday.

It is believed to be the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in Navy history.

Dobbs threw for one score and ran for another to help the Midshipmen (6-3) become bowl eligible. After the game, Navy accepted an invitation to play in the inaugural EagleBank Bowl in the nation's capital on Dec. 20.

Two critical miscues late in the game cost Temple (3-6). Navy scored the tying touchdown on the return of a fumble by Owls running back Kee-ayre Griffin with 37 seconds left, and Temple tight end Steve Maneri dropped a fourth-down pass in the end zone during overtime.

Temple also botched a conversion in the fourth quarter and lost a fumble near the Navy goal-line late in the first half.

"We dropped a touchdown, fumbled the football, missed an extra point, fumbled on the 10-yard line in the second quarter," lamented coach Al Golden. "That's the difference in the game."

The loss ruined a fine day by Adam DiMichele, who went 21-for-28 for a career-high 340 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of 49-yarders to Bruce Francis.

Ranked 118th in the nation in total offense, Temple amassed 409 yards. But it wasn't enough.

Navy trailed 27-7 with 13:41 left before mounting a stunning comeback behind Dobbs, who replaced injured starter Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada with five minutes left in the third quarter.

First, Dobbs threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Thiel with 9:16 left. Then, after a Temple punt, Eric Kettani capped a 64-yard drive with a 1-yard, fourth-down touchdown run with 2:52 to go. The conversion was blocked, keeping the score 27-20.

Navy decided against an onside kick, and Temple appeared to have held on after making a first down. But on third down with less than a minute left, Griffin tried to squeeze some extra yardage out of a meaningless play designed to eat up the clock.

Big mistake. Navy linebacker Ross Pospisil pried the ball loose and teammate Clint Sovie took it 42 yards for a touchdown. Matt Harmon's extra point was good, setting up overtime.

"Certainly we could have kneeled down, but you give it to the running back, tell him to put two hands on it. That's what running backs do," Golden said. "I told him to go down if he gets held up."

Pospisil said, "I was surprised they ran it. I thank God they did."

Said Sovie: "I thought he was down. I just saw the ball, picked it up and started running."

For an instant, Niumatalolo considered going for a two-point conversion to win it. Then he decided against it.

"I wanted to take them to overtime because we had them reeling," he said. "Things turned out well for us."

After a first half that ended tied at 7, the Owls took the second-half kickoff and went ahead when Francis slipped behind Ketric Buffin before making a diving catch in the end zone.

Later in the third quarter, DiMichele faked a dive on a third-and-2, dropped back and connected with a wide-open Francis for another 49-yard touchdown. On Temple's next possession, Griffin scored on a 16-yard run.

"Things looked very bleak there," Niumatalolo said. "But our kids continued to fight to the end."

Navy opened the game with a 79-yard drive that consumed more than six minutes. Kettani carried five times for 49 yards, converting a fourth-and-1 along the way, before Kaheaku-Enhada ran it in from the 2.

It was the ninth time in nine games the Midshipmen scored on their first possession.

DiMichele then went 5-for-5 for 69 yards during a 74-yard drive that ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Maneri.

The back-and-forth flurry ended there.

in a desperate land..

of our elaborate plans, the end
of everything that stands, the end
no safety or surprise, the end.
I'll never look into youre eyes again.
Jim Morrison.

WHEN Barack Obama launched his presidential bid 18 months ago, many in Europe were attracted and amused by its exotic audacity.

Here was a 40-something African-American with less than six years of experience in politics, only two of them at national level, who hoped to win the world's toughest job.

Even more interesting was that Obama wanted to win as a European-style candidate, offering policies popular there a generation ago. Ideas such as redistributing wealth, increasing the government's regulatory role, backtracking on free trade and emphasizing "soft power" as the key foreign-policy tool had been popular in Western Europe until the late '70s, when the Thatcher revolution started to change the politics of the old continent.

European advocates of old-style "social market" tax-and-spend economics saw Obama as one of their own. "Greens" liked his opposition to drilling for oil, while the European Left as a whole marveled at his gamble to win the presidency in a conservative nation on a radical platform.

The European Left liked Obama's promise to abandon Iraq in expiation of "the original sin" of liberating it, and to acknowledge the Islamic Republic of Iran's moral equivalence with the Western democracies by promising to talks without preconditions. Obama's anti-war rhetoric, his promise of courting Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez (while attacking Alvaro Uribe the only openly pro-US leader in Latin America) and his close ties to pro-Palestinian figures also endeared him to the European left.

Nevertheless, few in Europe expected and even fewer wanted him to win.

The thrill was to see a US politician seeking to Europeanize US policies. The fear was that he might actually succeed.

Most Europeans want the US to remain American - that is, to be prepared to do the heavy lifting on their behalf, whenever needed. They like the fact that the US taxpayer spends four times more on the collective defense of the West than does his European counterpart. They like America's open markets, even as Europe clings to as many trade barriers as possible.

For more than six decades, Europe has enjoyed the privilege of being protected by the United States while indulging in anti-Americanism. If there was to be fighting, one always called in the Americans - and then, once victory was assured, damned them for being warmongers and "imperialists."

Thus, the prospect of the United States adopting the European model frightens many in Europe's elites. Today, the US is guarantor of peace, stability or at least stalemate in no fewer than 66 conflict situations across the globe. In many of those cases, Europe is a bigger beneficiary of US efforts than America itself. Remove the US from the equation, and Europe will be forced to do the job itself or retreat in the face of deadly enemies.

The last time a European power won a war on its own was in 1982, when Britain kicked Argentina out of the Falkland Islands. (Even then, it had substantial US support).

Ironically, the Americans may take the "European option" at a time when pro-US parties are in power in almost every part of the old continent. (The only major exception is Spain's mildly anti-American government.)

France and Germany have kicked anti-American leaders out of power and voted in Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel, the most pro-US major political figures Europe has produced since the '50s. In Italy, Silvio Berlusconi presides over the most pro-US government in his nation's history.

Earlier this month, as Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and the Rev. Jesse Jackson unleashed their anti-US rhetoric at the World Policy Conference in Evian, France, a number of European leaders from formerly communist states rose in defense of the nation that had helped them gain their freedom.

As the US election approaches, few European leaders want Obama to win. Sarkozy has expressed concern that an Obama presidency would enable Iran to speed up its nuclear program and build the bomb before a new strategy is developed in Washington.

Berlusconi has told his entourage of "uncertainties" that an Obama presidency might provoke on the international scene at a time of financial crisis and mounting Middle East tension.

Merkel has offered few clues about her preferences. But there are signs that she, too, regards Obama's positions on a number of key issues as "problematic."

The central and eastern European leaders are worried about an American "retrenchment" under Obama, allowing Russia to project power into the region as it did in Georgia.

Only the Left (in its diverse manifestations) and the anti-American Right root for Obama in the hope that he would (in the words of France's Socialist former Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine) put end America's role as " hyper-power," and, in the words of Spain's Socialist Foreign Minister Miguel-Angel Moratinos, inaugurate the "post-American era."

These are curious times. The old pastime of America-bashing notwithstanding, the American way of doing things has never been as popular in Europe as it is today. Yet many in Europe fear that Americans themselves might vote for policies that were tested and found to be failures in the old continent a generation ago.

I have offically distanced myself from "aunti Zeituni"

WASHINGTON -- Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

Onyango's refusal to leave the country would represent an administrative, non-criminal violation of U.S. immigration law, meaning such cases are handled outside the criminal court system. Estimates vary, but many experts believe there are more than 10 million such immigrants in the United States.

The AP could not reach Onyango immediately for comment. No one answered the telephone number listed in her name late Friday. It was unclear why her request for asylum was rejected in 2004.

Onyango is not a relative whom Obama has discussed in campaign appearances and, unlike Obama's father and grandmother, is not someone who has been part of the public discussion about his personal life.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Kelly Nantel, said the government does not comment on an individual's citizenship status or immigration case.

Onyango's case -- coming to light just days before the presidential election -- led to an unusual nationwide directive within Immigrations and Customs Enforcement requiring any deportations prior to Tuesday's election to be approved at least at the level of ICE regional directors, the U.S. law enforcement official told the AP.

The unusual directive suggests that the Bush administration is sensitive to the political implications of Onyango's case coming to light so close to the election.

One of the sources acknowledged he was not a supporter of Obama or John McCain and said he has no plans to vote on Tuesday. He said that was not a motive for releasing the information.

Kenya is in eastern Africa between Somalia and Tanzania. The country has been fractured in violence in recent years, including a period of two months of bloodshed after December 2007 that killed 1,500 people.

The disclosure about Onyango came just one day after Obama's presidential campaign confirmed to the Times of London that Onyango, who has lived quietly in public housing in South Boston for five years, was Obama's half aunt on his father's side.

It was not immediately clear how Onyango might have qualified for public housing with a standing deportation order

obama inshallah

that's the chant from the caves of afghanistan to the streets of gaza, from pakistan, syria and iran.......it is arabic for "obama...God willing".

and our enemies may just get their way.

The end of the world would most certainly come from events with their genesis in Jerusalem......what happens if an American Presidents sends OUR armed forces in on the side of islamist extremist against the Isrealis ? can't happen ? who will stop him ? the Democratic Congress?

Like Joe Biden said, obama will be tested , and his reaction may surprise people....and it may seem like he is making a big mistake.......Joe is bracing us for the end....prepping us for an alliance with the Arabs against the Jews.....

obama inshallah.......get ready to die.....

journalistic integrity ?

where are the self loathsome liberals on this one......the America hating left that insists it is okay to burn the U.S. Flag as a demonstration of your First Ammendment rights.......and yet , here we have a major market newspaper, the LA Times, just days before the Nation casts votes in the most important election of our collective lives, refusing to air a tape that shows one of the candidates in a light he has tried very hard to convince is not him.......The Tape (full story below) is of Ossama Obama hangin with the PLO in 2003......less than 24 months after the attacks on America.....and we rallied as a nation and proclaimed "Never Forget" ......forgive me if I chuckle at that one......Never forget ? as we stand on the precipice of suicide......never forget ? sad.......... obama claims that although he attended Rev Wrights church for 20 years, he does not shares the views of that man and has distanced himself from that church........obama who shared cocktails and rubbed elbows with admitted terrorist bomber Bill Ayers but does not share his extreme views and claims " I was only 8" when that bombing happened......by that logic , it would be okay if 30 years from now , someone running for president could have cocktails with the Ossama Bin Laden and claim " I was only 8 in 2001"....obama...why are you so quiet about Rashid Khalidi ? why are you so scared of this tape airing ?......let America see it , buy up 30 minutes of prime time television with your illegal donations and proclaim that you have distanced yourself from Rashid Kalidi and his extremist views and move on.......you have an ignorant public at your feet , adoring your every move , in a satanic trance, like mushrooms they wish to be kept in the dark and force mad manure..........I have officially suspended the Gato for El Presidente~ campaign and decided to put the jokes on the shelf until after the election , this is too serious to be making light.........anyway , after the 4th , the World may be laughing at America.

one last crack, if my adversaries ever unearthed damaging footage of me hanging with Dano in Breezy or on a bus to that Liberal Free State of Montreal , I would never distance myself from the Woodman....no sirree....I would stand by my future Ambassador to Diego Garcia 100% ...........if I ever did win the election I would put together a cabinet that rivaled the Holland family Liquor Cabinet on 73rd street back in the day.........yes sir, no more jokes....

The Los Angeles Times is standing on what it calls journalistic integrity - a promise made to its source - in refusing to release a 2003 videotape of Barack Obama fulsomely praising a Palestinian apologist for armed "resistance" against Israel.

Pardon our skepticism.

The paper, which has endorsed Obama, said it obtained the tape from "a confidential source" who demanded "that we not release it."

But what of the public's right to know?

Does anyone seriously believe that, as John McCain said yesterday, "if there was a tape with me and Sarah Palin and some neo-Nazi . . . you think that that tape wouldn't be made public?"

In its defense, the paper says that it published "a detailed account" of the videotape back in April.

True enough - although the paper also won't release a full transcript.

The tape shows Obama, then an Illinois legislator, speaking at a dinner hosted by Arab-Americans for Rashid Khalidi, a Palestinian activist and professor who was headed for Columbia University.

Who is Khalidi, and why should Americans be concerned about Obama's relationship with him? See Gabriel Schoenfeld's profile of the activist-scholar on the opposite page.

On the tape, Obama says his many dinners with Khalidi have been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases," and adds: "For that reason, I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation."

Such words aren't likely to reassure supporters of Israel - indeed, as the Times itself reported, it explains why Palestinian partisans believe that Obama "is . . . receptive to their cause."

The Obama campaign yesterday insisted that its candidate "has been clear that Rashid Khalidi is not an adviser to him or his campaign and that he does not share Khalidi's views."

But when did that become "clear"?

Shouldn't responsible journalists be asking that question?

And shouldn't LA Times owner Sam Zell be demanding that his underlings make the tape public?

Yes, he should!

Meanwhile, the founders of The Politico report that "Obama will win the votes of 80 percent or more of the journalists covering the election."

And journalists wonder why Americans don't trust the media.

the killer comes from within

the below article first appeared in the NY Post on Tuesday Oct 28th.

'OBAMA! Inshallah!" - Obama! Allah willing! That slogan, scribbled on walls in Gaza, indicates the hopes that Barack Obama has inspired among Arabs.

While Obama has tried to push his origins into the background, his "Islamic roots" have won him a place in many Arabs' hearts.

One columnist, Mohamed Al-Menshawi, hails Obama as "the candidate with Muslim roots" and as the "harbinger of solidarity between Americans and the Muslim world."

Another, Al-Jazeera's Aala al-Bayoumi, notes: "Had it not been for Obama, Arabs would not even bother to follow the US presidential race." What makes the difference is Obama's "Islamic and African roots."

Marwan Bishara hails Obama's "radical politics": "For the US to vote in an African-American progressive liberal would certainly mark a departure from the hyper and violent conservatism of the Bush-McCain camp," he writes. An Obama presidency "would be better for both the US and the Arab world."

Obama especially appeals to pan-Arab nationalists angry at the United States for having ousted Saddam Hussein. Obama's promise to leave Iraq gives pan-Arabs their only chance (albeit slim) to destroy the new Iraqi democracy.

While radical Arabs, including the Hamas leadership, favor Obama, most Arab officials are wary of him. They fear his inexperience and leftist connections might destroy all that has been gained in Iraq, provoke a bigger mess in Afghanistan, trigger a war with Pakistan and open the way for Khomeinist hegemony in the region.

Note that Obama wouldn't be the first politician with Muslim roots to lead a major non-Muslim country. Carlos Menem, a Muslim of Syrian descent, served as Argentina's president from 1989 to 1999. But he dropped his Arab-Islamic first name and adopted his baptismal Christian name before entering politics.

Obama, by contrast, has retained his Arabic-Islamic names. (Barack means "blessed" and Hussein means "beautiful.") His family name is Swahili, an East African lingua franca based on Arabic. Arab commentators note that his siblings also all have Arabic Muslim names. His sister is called Oumah, Arabic for "the community of the faithful his older daughter, Malia, bears the name of a daughter of the Caliph Othman, who commissioned the compilation of the first edition of the Koran. That Obama's stepfather was also a Muslim (from Indonesia) strengthens the empathy that many Arabs feel for him.

The Syrian regime has also indicated its preference for Obama, not least because President Bush forced it to end its 29-year military occupation of Lebanon. Buthaina Shaaban, an adviser to President Bashar al-Assad, has welcomed Obama's call for radical change in US policy. She writes, "The change suggested by Obama is essential not only for the US but for the entire human family."

Also enthusiastic for Obama is the Lebanese Hezbollah. The party's No. 2, Sheik Naim al-Kassim, went as far as inviting Americans to vote Obama as a step toward peace with Islam. (The party disowned his comments as "personal opinion.") Pro- Hezbollah columnist Amal Saad-Ghorayeb has no doubt that Arabs should welcome an Obama presidency because "African-Americans are more sympathetic to Arabs because they, too, are oppressed."

Hussein Shobokshi, a liberal Saudi commentator, predicts that "Obama's ascent to power in America would mark an important moral transformation in the superpower and is a healthy indicator of the long-awaited improvement in the international arena." He envisages a new system in America in which "nongovernmental institutions will participate in the political decision-making process in an effective manner," while "capitalism will undergo fundamental adjustment."

Another liberal writer, Diana Makkled, sees Obama's success as a sign that America is still the place where dreams are realized. That a man with a Muslim-African background might become president "could only take place in the US, not in the banana republics we live in," she writes.

Arabs welcomed and widely commented on Colin Powell's assertion that, even if Obama were a Muslim, it should not be held against him.

Some columnists have also noted Obama's close ties to a number of Palestinian radicals, including Rashid Khalidi and the late Edward Said, as signs that the senator would change US Middle East policy in the Arabs' favor. Strengthening that impression was an interview the Rev. Jessie Jackson granted to several Arab media outlets, including Al-Jazeera and the popular Internet newspaper Elaph, in which he promised an end to the United States' allegedly pro-Israel policy.

Not all Arab commentators are struck by Obamania, however. His flip-flops on issues - including the future of Jerusalem, withdrawal from Iraq and dealing with the Iranian nuclear threat - have prompted some to counsel caution.

Tareq Al-Houmayed, editor of the daily Asharq Alawsat, warns Arabs not to expect too much: "Every American president would be governed by American interests. Obama's understanding of politics is not important here."

Abdulrahman al-Rashed, a Saudi commentator, also notes that no president can radically alter US global policies. He advises Arabs to neither have exaggerated hopes nor be dispirited when Obama tells the Israelis "more than they hoped to hear" to win Jewish support.

Amir Taheri's latest book, "The Persian Night: Iran Under the Khomeinist Revolution," is due out next month.

RAAAAIIIIINNNNNNN

when the rain comes , they go and hide their heads....they might as well be dead.....when the rain comes......when the raaaaain comes. (lennon/mccartney)

well it can't rain enough on the satanic city of philadelphia, as far as I am concerned.

I am delighted that their lil world series party eneded on a dreary rain soaked monday night.....2-2......no title tonight, but hopefully some of the trailer park trash in attendance caught a pneumonia........it is porbably too much to still hope that Tampa somehow turns it around and wins the series.....BUT IF THEY DO......I will personally lead the charge to revoke the city charter for philadelphia and turning it into a waste management transfer station..... a dumping ground for the garbage that "REAL" cities produce.

if nothin else, these loosers dumped $25 for parking, a lot more for tickets, beer, rain ponchos etc etc , and saw a tie...A TIE.....but since this is philly....they are probably quite used to kissing their sisters.

could you imagine

Just think of the possibilities if we were not stuck in the BCS world......

We could very well have ended up with a Rose Bowl Tilt matching the Nittany Lions of Penn State Verses the Men of Troy from USC.......on a sun drenched field on New years Day in pasadena, with 100,000 spectaters sporting their School Colors and a National Championship on the line..... a match made in college football fan heaven....but alas not this year.....if these two Historic institutions do meet it will either be on January 8th, a Tuesday Night in a dome somewhere........OR , if the meet in the rose Bowl by chance, it will only be because they have both fallen out of the Natl Championship picture.......beware of what you wish for America...beware.

and the Wramblin Wreck keeps rolling along......a nice come from behind victory in the 4th quarter win, on the road in Clemson to boot......

Remember the USS Cole

Nearly one year before the attacks of 9/11, the U.S. Navy ship Cole, located off the coast of Yemen, was attacked by suicide bombers. The attack was later attributed to a cell within the Al Qaeda network; it had been supervised by Osama Bin Laden. The Cole bombing alerted Americans of the reality of terrorism, though, even when the connection to Al Qaeda was established, the threat represented by the Al Qaeda network remained generally underestimated. On Thursday, October 12, 2000, while refueling at a port in Aden, Yemen, the U.S. Navy destroyer Cole was attacked by a two suicide bombers navigating a small motorboat full of explosives. The explosion occurred at 11:18 a.m. Bahrain time, killing 17 crew members and wounding 40 others.

double digits on horizon

with the late night addittion of Jim "no relation to Jules" Holland to the avid blog readers of SN2K , we are rapidly approaching double digits in membership......ballons, hats and party favors and an ice cream cake in the conference room .....once the magic number has been reached....

Jim , pls remember....we are the opposite of Vegas.....our motto is.

"What Happens on the Blog..........should be shared with everyone you come in contact with".....and since you are in the service industry , I expect a slew of cabbies and tourists to start loggin onto this space.

Dow futures are DOWN again.......looks more and more like Dano and Whitey Cahill got out of Wall Street at the right time......

whats that BUZZZZZ

it's the ferocious STING of the Yella jackets of course..( 5-0 vs the spread)...Coach Johnson has the drones swarming.......he is quietly dispelling the rumor that he cannot coach an effective passing game........as he said , and I have repeated time and time again , ad nauseum , the reason they did not throw more often at the Naval Academy was twofold......1st and foremost , when your gameplan is clock management and ball control it is actually a disservice to your defense if your offense scores too quickly .....The defenses at Navy were undersized , they could not hang with the ND's of the world for 4 quarters....UNLESS....their offense was capable of 7, 8, 9 or even 10 minutes drives........if you can limit the amount of time your defense is on the field, you also limit the oppurtunities for your weakness to be exposed......when Navy did go to the passing game they were extremely effective....in part because the opposing defense was lulled into an option coma.

Secondly.....the passing game requires timing , and timing comes from practice , and practice? well at the US Naval Academy , although important; Football practice is at the bottom of the "to do" list.......these kids are learning Nuclear engineering and clever ways to infiltrate foreign soil and murder ruthless despots.....these are the guys that will invent the next wave of warfare that will defend and save this country for generations to come......football is a saturday afternoon leisure activity to take the mind off the problems of the world at hand....

At Georgia Tech ? a fine engineering school in its own rite, but those nerds aren't suting up on a saturnalian Saturday.....GA Tech is a football factory.....the kids who are on a gridiron scholarship are there to win games , not wars.....just like almost every other big time program in the Nation......the motto is "stay out of jail to stay on the field"........and Coach Johnson , the finest offensive mind in the NCAA today , will use the tools he is given.......we are right on time for the National Championship game Next year......might even crack the BCS party this year to get our toes wet....

around the rest of the NCAA yesterday.....The MIDS had a big win at Air Farce and are on track for an unprecedented 14th straight win agaisnt the other service Academies and the 7th straight winning of the CIC Trophy......Coach Ken is carving his own niche with this team....I like him already.....he has Coach J hutzpa and is not afrid of the unconvential.....bring on the Pitt Panthers.

The IRISH are slowly but surely erasing the bitter taste of last year.......after the SD State opener , I thought we were in for a long year , but I take my hat off to Clausen and I am very impressed with the passion of the defense.....let's go into tarheel country and show that we can win on the road......big game next week.

WHOOOOAAAA Nittany ........how about Joe Pa and the Lions , a win is a win is a win , especially in the lil Ten.....6-0 with Ohio St and Whisky on the horizon...i geuss the calls for MR Paternos head 3 years ago were a bit premature.

and Miami lost.......spoon-jiah.....I wonder whatever happened to that shirt I bought in Nairobi, Kenya.......it had a big elefante on it with the traditonal African'T greeting "Jambaya"........I think i lost that bad boy during the Pascagoula Miss days ...circa 1988.

oh well , that's it from Lil Silver on a quiet Sunday morn.......let's go brew Crew and the Big Blue.......go hail liev.....and as we "roll" into Roctober we draw ever closer to the 11 installment of Svetter Nite.....never too soon to go jersey shoppin.

LACE UP....GEAR UP.......DRINK UP

Shea Goodbye

they were the best of times, they were the worst of times.

Poor Jim Holland ......so full of hope at the start of the day....so deflated afterwards....forced to endure drunken conversations that teetered on the brink of insanity , from the sublime to the ridiculous....such is a Sunday afternoon in the Marina of Flushing Bay......from the serious suggestion to activate Mr. Met so he could get an at bat at Big Shea. ( we figured he would probably take a pitch off his huge cranium and we would at least have a base runner....."he's a team player" Hoffie insisted..."he'd let the pitch hit em".)....to a lenghty, LENGHTY discussion on the origins of the word BOOOO.......why don't we growl instead of boooing ? GRRRLLLL.....makes sense to me.....

Speaking of BOOOOOing ........that's pretty much all i did from 4:15 until early this morning.......I took off today ( go figure) and I have watched the replay on SNY twice so far......I am sitting in the garage....drinking a beer.....still wearing my lanyard with my ticket around my neck ( i did not sleep with it, for fear of strangulation....but I put it back on immediately this morning) and I just keep boooing the TV......my dog thinks it's strange, but what the hell does she know....she wasn't at Big Shea yesterday....I have a right to keep boooooing.

the POST Game ceremony....POST Game......yeah that's right....after choking yet again , and the beer vendors packed and gone....that's what i want to do....stand around and watch the Widow Clendennon slide into 2nd base....even Tom terrific didn't have the heart to throw a strike.....he bounced the final pitch to tghe Pizza man......typical Mets....typical Shea......

The highlight of the day was the kielbasa breakfast in the early morning Monsoon.....it was kind of like a Chineese water torture....the 67 cold beers in the parking lot were tastier than their pricier Bud-Light cousins of the upper tier........beltran homered...that was exciting....bringing the August 10th tickets....that was different........glenn close and marc anthony....whoop de doo.

as I stood at field level next to the left field foul pole, and watched the horrible parade of heores .......the Al Jacksons, Craig Swanns, Dave Kingmans....etc etc.....suddenly it occured to me.......WE SUCK !!!!

anyway the good news little Craig was told that we won the world series AGAIN, and he's Polish , so he believed it......and Big Craig is scoutingStub Hub for opening day tix 2009....and Goomba Johhny enjoyed the potatoe pancake leftovers, so what the hell did we expect anyway....a win ?

Fare Thee Well

O seven hundred ZULU hours....Sept 28....Sunday
Oh? seven or eight hundred cold beers in the Marina Parking Lot.
That Crazy ol sun is fighting, scratching , clawing his way through the clouds to shine on the METROPOLITANS and her Loyal Subjects......all who fight with me this day will be brothers for eternity........the culmination of a long season....the culmination of the only stadium the class of 65 has ever known.........today ol Shea we bid you adieu .......today we say goodbye ........we pray for the afterlife of postseason, but we ask no quarter and give none......this day we leave it all in the seats, a piece of me forever dies this day....I will shed a tear, and chug a beer, feel the chills and experience thrills, never again will we ride the escalators up hopeful and come pouring down the ramps victoriuos.......the chant of "Lets-Go-Mets" we life forever, but sadly echo silently on this hallowed ground........one last time, one last game, things will never be the same, I grew older here, for I certainly have yet to grow up, from my fist game in Spring of 1970 , through the playoffs of 73, the World Series games and too many opening days to recall them all here, I will take my memories of the old ballyard to my senility..............GOODBYE OLD FRIEND.

I leave you with the ftting Lyrics of Robert Hunter and Jerome Kahn Garcia.

Fare you well, my honey
Fare you well, my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Are flown, except you alone

Gonna leave this brokedown palace
On my hands and my knees, I will roll, roll, roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time, in my time, I will roll, roll, roll

In a bed, in a bed
By the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul

River gonna take me, sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy all the way back home
It's a far gone lullaby sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come since I first left home

Going home, going home
By the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul

Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul

Another one bites the Dust

As Jorma would warble...."another man done gone...another man done gone....another man done gone...down on the county farm.............another man done gone"

Washington Mutual closed by the FED , the Largest Bank Failure in the history of the United States, all this while Congress fiddles and juctures for the cameras.....demands an apolgy from Wall Street ( Sherrod OHIO) and protests the bailout of "WALL STREET MOGULS"........the sad thing is the average stiff on the street really thinks this is a golden parachute for Wall Street......friends if you do not realize it by now, this is a bailout of MAIN STREET....not Wall Street......we are steamrolling towards socialism.......the day is coming when there will be one bank....one mortgage lender.....one credit card company........all controlled by the govt...........talk about a revolution, welllll ya know.....you can count me in.(j.Lennon)

stock picks of the day......JPM ( Chase) and WFC ( Wells Fargo).....buy and hold em....they are going to own the world soon.....you may as well get a dividend back

Thank You.....Thank You.....

On Behalf of "Messier the Great Mouse Catcher" ......top mouser in Monmouth County 3 of the last 5 years .....we would like to extend a great Thank You to all the well wishers this past week......Messier is back home , resting peacefully, snacking on Turkey and wathcing the Mets Choke...again......I had to tell her it was not her medication , and this was not deja-vu.....but a whole new pennant strecth implosion.......ah but she digresses......we want to say thanks for all the cards and flowers, emails, voicemails and text messages of support that we recd.......for the record, the Champ is recovering from a life threatening attack of pancreatitis.....but as the snapshots will attest .....all is well on the couch back home......she is anxiously awaiting the cooler weather ...the weather that drives ordinary field mouses indoors to their certain deaths...... and of course the start of Hockey season , this being the year that her dog sister Graves joins her on the Roof of MSG......

The Brown Bomber

If you were not priviliged to be amongst the 17K strong faithfull at Monmouth Park , or Lucky enough to find yourself squared in front of a telivision tuned to Trackside Live yesterday at 4:48 P.M. , you missed quite the showing. Big Brown , the Brown Bomber , ran a race only true champions are capable of. It was a race that enthusiasts of the equines have seen a zillion times prior , only this one was slightly different. Staked to an early lead, Big Brown stretced the field, only a longshot was in hollering distance on the back stretch......but this was not a cupcake festival, this field was strong ......older, more experienced and true Turf Horses lingered in his shadow as the rounded the last turn. Shakis, the Irish Champ had the King of Monmouth aboard in Joe Bravo and was in perfect stalking range.......Proudinksy, A 5 year old German turf horse was also chalk and drew even with Mr. Brown.........it was obvious the Big brown went out too fast , too soon and was gassed, these older more seasoned vets of the turf wars were gonna blow by the Hero......we have seen it a zillion times , but will have to wait another day to the a "zillion and one" .......Big brown switched to another gear , very few horses when caught from behind by another great horse can dig deep and find that next level....Big Brown did ......he held off the charge....it was exhilirating....I did not bet him , i bet on Shakis, but I roared my approval and was pulling for him isntead of my own bet down the stretch.......the 17K roared too, it was two minutes of heart pounding excitement that reminds me why I love them soo.....yesterday , we witness GREATNESS......on to the Breeders Baby...Bring on Curlin !!

lil ten

well I hope , but do not expect , for the pollsters to vote for the top twenty based on what they see and not on loyalty to the folks that butter their bread.....face it , the Big Ten has been mediocre at best the past 5 years , and yet, just because ohio State beats up on the rest of the conf we have to endure watching them get spanked in the title game ( On TIVo on Jan 10th of course, but that's another rant.)

Yesterday Mighty Ohio State....the Pride of the conf , gets blown out 35-3 ....again.....when was there last impressive non conf win ? the title they stole from Miami with phantom time delayed pass interference ?

In Other conf News.....Wisky slips by Fresno St by a field Goal.......Purdue loses to Oregon, Illinois sneaks by Louisiana Lafeyette by 3 and Michigan gets spanked by Notre Dame High School Musical.

The only team winning convincingly is Penn State, big deal....Syracuse ? wasn't gardner-webb available.....they keep their streak of nobody alive next week when they tackle Temple.......

Yet come Dec......there they will be ....splattered across the top twenty , and we will be told how great Ohio St is because they had "another" unbeaten Big-Ten season......a farce.....

next week we put the acc under ths scope.

evidence

Shocking !!! Stunning !!!! Victor Mclaughlin ( AKA Chippo Nolan ) returns as the "informer"..........I hope the FISH and chips were tasty roll.....et tu ? et tu ??

"NO WAY OUT" ? ? well we have the same prmise here......it seems a photo of the guilty party was snapped...no pun intended.....it is being developed as we blog.......as soon as I can sure it with my loyal audience, I Will........

STAY TUNED ..........

long day at the track

Mr. looser of the NY Post has nuthin on me.....

So I am at the Shores fastest Strecth, Beautiful Monmouth Park on Friday and I am perusing the entries for the first race.......low and behold there is a horse called JAYleen .....this being Sept 12th I had just come from a memorial Mass for my brother JAY , so this horse caught my eye......18-1....worth $2 ...........so I put in my exotics and toss 2 across on the longshot , grab an icey cold 16oz bottle of delicious Coors Lite ( TAP on the NYSE) . and walk outside to get some air......10 minutes to post , 22-1 on Jayleen .......I walk to the finish line to see the horsies come through the tunnel and enter the main ring.......the first 4 go past without incident , but heres come #5 Jayleen , there is a commotion, he does a double spin-o-rama directly in front of me.........he stops fussing , looks right at me , and does a full-on horsie snort....I smile back at him , peek up at the board 27-1.........I head upstairs to watch the race from the balcony at the finish line...and start contemplating a few more sheckles on old Jayleen after our close encounter of the Equine kind.....so I visit the machine and toss an addittional $20.00 scross the board.....32-1 and rising....if it ever comes in we are eating and drinking like Kings this day.........I walk to the finish line and stand outside by the wheelchair section ( Hope no Mad Canucks start tossing beer on me ) ......the horsies are going in the gate at the head of the backstretch......35-1 final odds....

And they're off..........it's a tight pack down the backstretch , lots of jockeying for position but nothing unusual......they start to thin around the far turn, Jayleen in 4th but hanging near the lead, there is some more jockeying as the clear the turn and now I am on the rail and closing furiously, one of the big favorites has fallen off the pace, it's a two Horse race....and Jayleen is one of them , S/b a Nice Payday for yours truly...they hit the wire and I've got 2nd place , 1/2 length off the winner, as the two horses that were tied for third cross the line, one of them goes down like he was shot.....crumbling on top of the Jock ( Eddie Castro) sickening........right in front of my eyes.......horrifying.....the crowds gasps.....the horsie springs up after a moment , THANK GOD , and gallops in the opposite direction.....the Jock is motionless , looks like he is dead.....the ambulance is out , the stretcher comes out........this puts a damper on my excitement , but i have place and show money , times 11 , coming my way....that will buy plenty of beer .............then the three words that can bring a grown man to tears.

"HOLD ALL TICKETS "

We have an inquiry.........WHAT ?? WHAT ??? ......well maybe it has nothin to do with good ol 5 horse.....maybe it has to do with the two horses that tied for third and crashed.........yeah, that makes sense........quick look at the Tote board.......the 5 is flashing.......you son of a .........

The three of four minutes that the stewards reviewed the infraction felt like an hour, of course my luck , I am standing next toa crusty ol Man who continues to bellow " Take him Down....Take Him Down".....miserable creep wants my 35-1 shot to forfeit 2nd place because he did not bet on him......he wants his chalk horse to get 2nd se he can retrieve $2.10 from the window........."TAKE HIM DOWN".......obviously I need to walk away before i expedite this old bastardo's departure from said earth.

" ladies and Gentelemn tha #5 Horse, JAYleen, has been disqualified "

At that point I should have taken every nickle on me and placed it ever so carefully into the recycling bin and walked home in the rain......it was a sign of things to come .

Not Too worry though.....I am going back today to make more donations and cheer on the GREAT Big Brown..........see you in the paddock.

9/11/08....what are they doing there now.?

Jorma Kaukonen Blue Country Heart...."what are they doing in heaven today"

What are they doing in heaven today,
Where sin and sorrow are all done away?
Peace abounds like a river, they say.
What are they doing there now?

I'm thinking of friends whom I used to know,
Who lived and suffered in this world below
But they've gone off to heaven, but I want to know
What are they doing there now?

There's some whose hearts were burdened with care
They paid for their moment to fighting and tears
But they clung to the cross with trembling and fear
But what are they doing there now?

And there's some whose bodies were full of disease
Physicians and doctors couldn't give them much ease
But they suffered 'til death brought a final release
But what are they doing there now?

There's some who were poor and often despised
They looked up to heaven with tear-blinded eyes
While people were heedless and deaf to their cries
But what are they doing there now?
