BC alum

wow.....what a fukin typical politician corey schneider is....totally twists the situation and attacks Tim Thomas as being un-american and unworthy of representing Team USA ( read below). when in reality it is Tim Thomas love of Country that has him so angry with the political mess in D.C. .......there are plenty of Patriots that still love this country but refuse to worship at the blackhaus alter....refuse to hold elected officials on some deity.....congress, the senate and the commander in spook may think they are the nobles and the masses are blind sheep like corey schneider, but not all of us have drunk the cool-aid....or in this case ...would it be ripple ??

Corey schneider..Boston College Alum.....Go FUK yerself.....and your canuck boyfriend.

Even when it comes to off-the-ice decisions, Vancouver Canucks goalies seem to love giving Tim Thomas a hard time.
No, it wasn't Robert Luongo opening his mouth this time around, but rather Cory Schneider telling Thomas how he should have handled the White House situation.
"I have no problem with his personal beliefs, but [Thomas] can suck it up for an hour, say, 'hi,' and be with the team, and avoid all of this," Schneider told The Province.
Schneider -- a Marblehead, Mass., native and Boston College alum that has made 16 starts this season -- said he thinks Thomas should be more appreciative of the opportunities he's been given by playing in the United States.
"Respect the [presidency]," Schneider said. "He plays for Team USA and he has no problem making millions of dollars in the USA, but he can't go say 'hi' to the President? You get a lot of benefits living in the U.S. and he should have a little bit of respect for that.
"It's just the timing," he added. "It's poor timing. It's about putting your own agenda aside to do something with the team whether you like the guy or not."
Luongo, who made headlines during the 2011 Stanley Cup after saying the Game 5 game-winner against the B's would have been an "easy save" for him, refused to comment on Thomas' decision not to visit the White House.

open invite

Tim Thomas !.....you are always welcome at Sweater Nite...

Bruins goalie Thomas declines White House visit for political reasons

January 17, 2012: Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas reacts after giving up a goal to Tampa Bay Lightning center Dominic Moore during the third period of an NHL hockey game in Tampa, Fla.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Boston Bruins' star goaltender Tim Thomas skipped Monday's White House visit by the Stanley Cup champions due to political differences with President Barack Obama.
Thomas, a Flint, Mich., native and one of only two American players on the Bruins' Stanley Cup roster last season, was the only Boston player to decline the invitation.
"I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People," Thomas said in a statement.
"This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government," he wrote.
"Because I believe this, today (Monday) I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL."

arthurs

went to arthurs last night....had a fantastic time as always, but things have changed....first clue was that the dining room was not packed or very crowded at all...the price of the steak has risen to $28 and the shrimp cocktail is up to $10...but the beeeere still comes in 32 oz mugs (no coors light on tap) not sure what they charged...don't really care either....it was cold......steak and potatos were still good....but you have to ask for the hot peppers and now the cold slaw is a side order, not free......but if you go with a nice group, like we did last night, it is still a ton of fun...

super bowl

well hopefully i am putting a HEX on these two teams, and i sincerely hope i am wrong or I don't have the PULSE of the NFL playoffs this year.....but i fear the super bowl will be between Norleans and Baltimore......again , these are the 2 teams i HATE the most in this post season, so any other combo would be acceptable...

really can't believe how lousy the AFC is....this really could have been the J E T S year if they only could have beaten the Jints.....denver stinks, the steelers are walking wounded....the Texans have a basketball player for a QB....the bengals are now and will forever be the bengals......new england couldn't keep bishop ford out of the end zone and flacco and the ravens are beatable........oh poor Rex must be beside himself.

the NFC is stocked.....Falcons are solid if not flamboyant...Detroit has an explosice offense and their defense is capable of some big plays...the Niners are tough and dont make a lot of mistakes....New Orleans is loaded, the packers may be the best team in the past 25 years...and the Jints.....well they CAN Beat anyone and they CAN loose to anyone...depends on which G-Men show up....but you have to like the fact that the D Line is coming together at the right time, and a healthy pass rush can cover up a lot of weaknesses at LB and the secondary....the offense is as good as anyone else....you can't spell elite without ELI ....and you cant spell illegal immigration green card without Sanchize....bwaaaa haa haa

forgive my giddiness....but it is an absolute pleasure to start the playoffs without the Eagles, Cowboys, or Jets polluting the airwaves........sorry duff, but rex is tooo much to bare.

the little ten

another year....and once again college football is exposed for the farce that it is...another four months of exaggerated rankings and the pumping up of the big ten , when we all know the conf is sub par at best.....or quite honestly, they suck....but if you have a TV contract with ABC\ESPN your not allowed to SUCK...or better yet....your not allowed to admit in public that they suck......and the glaring conflict of interest in the "AP" Polls makes its all silly......i have beaten this drum before...but lets go over it one more time.......if you are a sportswriter for any newspaper in the midwest and you are trying to get on the national stage, the fastest way to have your stories circulated to a wider audience is to cover a national story.....so if your assigned to cover the big ten for a paper in Grand Rapids or Detroit or Columbus or Altoona or anywhere in the wide grasp of big ten country in the middle of America.....are you going to vote your conscious and admit that the Big Ten sucks and thus dismissing the national attention of your weekly column OR is it better suited for you to Vote Ohio St #1 , Whisky #3 , Michigan # 5 and so on and so on ??? ............and your never gonna let TCU, BOISE and those other guys get on the national stage....it can only hurt your importance.

for the record , the big Ten stepped it up this year in the Bowls going 3-6 (michigan on deck tonight)......with wins over Western Michigan and UCLA amongst the 3 wins and the Spartans ( who are decent) squeaked one out over Goergia.

I can hear Brent Musburger already pumping up Ohio St and Urban Meyer...coming off a 7 loss season and probably already ranked in the top 10 for next year.....and the beat goes on.

*****DISCLAIMER NOTE ********
although i often times will doctor a story to make it more interesting....I did not have to change a single word on this one....even I can't make this up.

MIAMI -- Santonio Holmes quit on his teammates. They saw it in his eyes, his body language, and they called him out in the huddle, leading to an ugly exchange between him and right tackle Wayne Hunter.

With one last chance to save their season, Holmes turned Tone Time into Groan Time. The New York Jets’' bust of a season ended with an on-the-field meltdown in the huddle, with players yelling and Holmes having to be restrained from going after Hunter.

This was ugly and embarrassing, even by Jets standards. Holmes was benched for the final two-plus minutes of their 19-17 loss Sunday to the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium -- one last example of a chemistry experiment gone bad.

"Is it disturbing? It’s been disturbing for a while," guard Brandon Moore said later at his locker, suggesting that dissension has been rearing its ugly head for a lot longer than one bad afternoon in the Florida sunshine.

Pressed, Moore finally said, "I don’t have anything more to say about Santonio."

He said plenty. Other teammates did, too, especially the most respected player in the locker room, future Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson, who unloaded on Holmes. He basically said that Holmes -- a captain, for crying out loud -- shut it down, mentally.

If the U.S. Army had captains like Holmes, we'’d all be speaking Japanese.

Turns out the Jets have a lot more to worry about this offseason than fixing Mark Sanchez and finding a replacement for offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who almost certainly will be fired or demoted. They have a serious locker-room issue -- or maybe it’s just a Holmes issue.

"Let me just say there were some guys in the huddle that were unhappy with Tone’'s demeanor," Tomlinson said. "When you have a group of guys fighting their butts off and one guy, for whatever reason, their demeanors not with them, you’'re going to get some guys to say something to him and tell him how they feel. That’'s what you got today."

Tomlinson wasn’'t finished.

"It'’s tough for guys to follow a captain that kind of behaves in that manner," he said. "The worst thing that can happen is when teammates start to question your passion. In that huddle, that’'s what you saw. Guys looked at his eyes and he didn’'t have fire in his eyes. Guys were turned off by that. … It was definitely boiling at that point. Guys had had enough."

In the culture of an NFL locker room, it doesn'’t get more stinging than that. Tomlinson'’s words weren'’t that different from what Moore said in October, when he questioned Holmes'’ leadership. That came in response to Holmes’' criticisms of the offensive line. The tension subsided for a couple of months -- winning helped -- but it was always there, simmering.

Let’s be honest: The Jets (8-8) played a horrible game and, even if Holmes had been in the lineup, they probably wouldn'’t have overcome a nine-point deficit in the final 2½ minutes. But that'’s not the point. The point is, Holmes bailed on his teammates at a time when they needed unity.
