Oh, you don't know the shape I'm in (the Band)
in 12 short hours we will gather at the Temple Bar in the rear courtyard of the Dublin House, on the shores of the Navasink River in Red Bank NJ. Brought together by cold beeeer, comradery and the music of the BAND. We were all lucky to grow up in a rare period of time that was blessed with some of the greatest music the planet has ever enjoyed. I am not even swimming in hyperbole to say that. The era of Rock n Roll bands is surely over , the only pulse of that time is from carryover acts in their 80's like the Stones.
The music of the 1960's through the late 90's was so good and so plentiful that it has inspired cover acts to recapture the glory still today. The Boomers and Gen X have that incredible music in the fabric of our lives and it is a soundtrack to live by. I feel sorry for the kids of today , they were denied the opportunity to see the Dead, Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd, the Eagles, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Led Zepplin, Elvis Costello, the Talking Heads and the Clash......all in the same summer.....and a thousand other bands besides.....
I am just counting my lucky stars today and waxing poetic for a time gone bye , tonight we listen to the music of the Band and drift back to 73rd street and 3rd Avenue.
