quadlibo

well this was an easy CASE to crack, it was all Brian Duffy's fault for unearthing the demon that lies within when he coerced me into drinking shots of JAMESON at the track on Thursday....the 48 hours of insanity that followed could have been lifed out of the summer of 1983 playbook...word for slurred word.....I have been stinking drunk for two full days, drinking shots like it was my job ...with no end in sight...

this doesn't sound like the woodman we all know......Mitch doesn't weaken , he grows stronger as Saturday approaches...

Wayne Verno, Lead Meteorologist
The Weather Channel

Danny weakens even more; some impacts still possible for the Outer Banks and eastern New England.

Tropical Storm Danny continues to weaken well off the Southeast U.S. Coast. As of 5 a.m. Friday, the center of Tropical Storm Danny was located 400 miles south of Cape Hatteras, NC.

Danny continues to struggle in a hostile environment, with an upper-level trough to the north and west, and shearing winds overtop the system.

Recent reports from a Hurricane Hunter Aircraft indicate Danny is barley holding on the tropical storm status, with the maximum winds now at 40 mph to the northeast of the center of circulation.

Danny is moving northwest near 10 mph. It should make a turn to the north and north-northeast later today into Saturday, while accelerating, as an upper-level trough deepens over the Central U.S.

Elevated surf and rip currents are already impacting areas from the northeast coast of Florida to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and this will continue through tonight. Increased surf and rip currents will spread toward the southern New England coast tonight into Saturday.

There remains a lot of uncertainty with the forecast track and intensity of Danny.

I see the Light

as the hulking Giant of a man that he is indeed, Jorma Kaukonen announed the arrival of Hot Tuna top the glorious shore with a thundering version of I see the Light, quite the jovial ol soul that he is , Jorma joked and poked fun at JACK all night, "see what happens when we let him drink that Jersey water" he quipped after Jack was overly demonstrative during one number.....all in all it was a spledid night at the Basie, ice cold delicious frosty beer flowed freely, and when it ran out....so did we.

In this world I'm living in I see the light
Sins are gone, now I know what is wrong and right
Morning came on slowly pushing back the night
It's good times now that I can see the light
On this road I'm walking on I see my way
Paradise I'm living for each and every day
'Bout the crossroads of the past, nothing more to say
It's good times now but we can see our way
In this sea I'm moving through, feel my life complete
With the one I'm living for time is, oh, so sweet
Feeling us together, living in the bright
It's good times now, we can see the light
In this world I'm living in I see the light
Sins are gone, now I know what is wrong and right
Morning came on slowly pushing back the night
It's good times now that we can see the light

oldies but goodies

my and Rico spring of 1980 on my back porch on 76th street , great day for drinking beer....Paul Maguire was the Mystery Photographer...I am wearing my 22 OLA jersey in Homage to the Great Dave Debuschere.

Strovika acting the part of Community Organizer , ensuring that everyone loaded the bus outside the Maritime Hotel in Montreal August 19?? ...i wanto say 1990 , but I am not certain..Craig stares in disbelief, obviously the first time he has seen a camera, PG joins me and Donny for the photo Op, and bare legible cogs is scurrying by in jis Purple Liev Vikings T-shirt, and the 20th hijacker is loading nitrogen bombs into his trunk right under our noses...that is a cigarette in my mouth, I refused to light it all weekend.

lyrics revisited

this is the song that Jorma wrote that pretold and actually initiated the breakup , or at least the leaving of Jorma and Jack from the Airplane, it's titled thrid week at the Chelsea, and he is going to play it (hopefully) tonight at the Count Basie.

Sometimes I feel like i am leaving life behind
My hands are moving faster than the movement of my mind
Thoughts and generations of my dreams are yet unborn
So we go on moving trying to make this image real
I hope that I will find them 'fore my moving gets too worn
Straining every nerve not knowing what we really feel
If only I could live to see the dawning of the dawn

Straining every nerve ending and everybody sees
That what they read in the Rolling Stone has really come to be
And trying to avoid a taste of that reality

Showed to me a face I didn't know at all
On an early New York mornin' a mirror in the hall
When I looked into the mouth there was nothing left inside
Lines were drawn around a pair of eyes that opened wide

So I walked into the little room and whistled like a sigh
As dawn light closed around me my head was still in gear
Thinking thoughts of playing more and singing loud and clear
Trying to reach a friend somewhere and make that person smile
Maybe pull myself away from that old lonesome mile

That often comes to haunt me in the morning
All my friends keep telling me that it would be a shame
To break up such a grand success and tear apart a name
Emptiness ain't where it's at and neither's feeling pain

Time is getting late now and the sun is getting low
But all I know is what I feel whenever I'm not playin'
Well now what is going to happen now is anybody's guess
If I can't spend my time with love I guess I need a rest
And sunshine's waiting for me a little further down the roadMy body's getting tired of carryin' another's load

fair is fair

It will never happen, but at his first press conference, this is the question that s/b asked of Mike Vick:

If you become the starting QB at some point, and the Eagles loose the game that you start, would you feel it is appropriate for the Eagles Ownership to Hang, Electrocute or drowned your sorry ass?

food for thought...

reason # 2,374,901 why islamic law sucks

Booze mum to be first woman to be caned in Malaysia 20/08/2009

A muslim model will become the first woman to be caned in Malaysia after admitting drinking beer.

An Islamic court has ordered that Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, be lashed six times. She was caught drinking alcohol in a raid on a hotel night club last year.

The married mum-of-one, who is being held in jail for a week, is not appealing against the sentence Prosecutor Saiful Idham Sahimi said: "This is the first case here. Under Islamic law a person who drinks commits a serious offence."

The Return of Favre

all around the NFL football fans were excited at the return of one of the greatest QB's and competitors of all time, the legendary , hall of famer himself, Brett Favre has decided to lace em up again with the Norsemen Tribe of St Paul.....drink, eat and drink like a Vikin Brett Arrghh!

as the man himself said...."I would hope that every teammate I ever played with would want me in a foxhole with him"

and they do.....except for the miserable, small minded, blame someone else for my failures, wheres the scapegoat, backstabbing J-E-T-S .....they turned on the injured legend in the closing weeks of the season, quit on him , and blamed him for everything from Manginny's "play not to loose' philosophy , to global warming.
Brett is the CLASS of the NFL , we wish you well, we hope to see you again in the NFC title game, and than GOD our last memory of you will not be wearing that silly jet uniform and being degraded by the likes of Lavernius Coles .

we will turn to Peter Rowan to sum it up for the jets.

If you ever feel sorrow for the deeds you have done,
With no hope for tomorrow in the setting of the sun.
And the ocean is howling of things that might have been,
And that last good morning sunrise will be the brightest you've ever
seen.

Daily Tailgate

I am happy to share with my loyal readers a great new website entitled Dailytailgate , and my nephew Ryan is co-founder , it looks pretty good if I do say so myself, it was just launched on 8/17 and you can sign up for a free daily email and you can register your 4 favorite teams on a seasonal basis to get out of market updates and inside tidbits.....definitely worth checking out, and I would certainly appreciate it if you took a few minutes to signup. Ryan is one of the writers and will be posting "rants" and articles, although i fear a philadelphia bias will SHINE through....and yes , that pun was intended.

MESSIER !! MESSIER !!

The Captain is back.

As an apprentice.

Mark Messier is rejoining the Rangers' organization as special assistant to club president Glen Sather, The Post has learned. It will mark Messier's first job in hockey -- and first full-time job, period -- since he ended his playing career following the 2003-04 season.

"I couldn't be more thrilled with the opportunity to move back to New York with my family, to learn from Glen and to work for the Rangers," Messier said yesterday by phone from the Bahamas. "I'm going to come in and get my feet wet and get an overview of how the business runs and how the team runs and take it from there."

vick bouycott contd

here is the email I sent directly to the eagles...

please be advised that I am launching a grass roots email campaign, not to you , but to ALL of your sponsors advising them that I will boycott their product if they continue to sponsor the eagles out of respect for the multitude of defenseless dogs that you new qb murdered. and remembder, when you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.

email campaign

these are the 1st in a long line of emails I will send to EVERY company that advertises or sponsors the philadelphia eagles, i implore my friends to do the same, keep it clean, keep it simple, maybe we can force their sponsors to pause.all you have to is logon to the eagles homepage, clink on a sponsore icon , and follow their link to "Contact Us"

i noticed that Dunkin Donuts advertises on the Philadelphia Eagles website, I would hope you reconsider in the aftermath of the Eagles signing Micheal Vick, if not , I will choose to exercise my right to boycott your "very enjoyable" cofee out of respect for the multitude of defenseless dogs this man murdered.

i noticed that Sovereign Bank advertises on the Philadelphia Eagles website, I would hope you reconsider in the aftermath of the Eagles signing Micheal Vick, if not , I will choose to exercise my right to boycott your bank out of respect for the multitude of defenseless dogs this man murdered

a racist is a racist is a racist...EXCEPT

help me out with this one if you would.

Mister MacNaBB was beside himself with outrage when the feagles (fkin-eagles) had the nerve to draft a QB in the 1st round last year (Kolb)....they were runnin poor spoony out of town because he has sucha nice tan etc etc, the man was agin him and all....he moped and whined and declared himself a hall of famer and a victim of race, if a white QB did what I have done for this team they would never disrespect him bLAH_BLAH_BLAH.......The Eagles countered that KOLB was a "potential" replacement for Mcnabb, and an insurance policy because mcnabb was hurt 15 times in 8 years etc etc.....

now fast forward to Thursday....the eagles sign the puppy drowner, a real and immediate threat to mcnabb , and almost a guarantee that philly will NOT offer mcnabb a long term extension...this is real, this is food stamps being taken out of the former orangeman pockets, what would he do.....walkout of camp ? demand a trade or a reworked contract ? ? NOPE...he sez mike deserves a 2nd chance man , and he is giddy about the possibilities of being teammates , he welcomed to the city of "brotherly" luv .......wow r we to believe that mcnabb has matured? that he nOW bleeds philly green ?

two silly side notes.....vic is blacker than midnight in mumbai and kolb ain't nothin but a cracker.

Good news for the modern gal

Here’s another reason to have a beer – a recent study suggests that females who drink beer on a regular basis are less likely to suffer from osteoporosis, London’s Daily Telegraph reported.

The medical journal Nutrition says that beer has a high level of silicon, which slows down the thinning that leads to broken bones and helps form new ones.

Beer also has phytoestrogens, which are also good for keeping bones healthy and strong.

Scientists asked more than 1,000 women in their 40s about their drinking habits. They then scanned the women’s hands, and found the women who drank beer had denser hands and a better sense of humor.

“Silicon plays a major role in bone formation,” the researchers said. “Beer has been claimed to be one of the most important sources of silicon in the Western diet, an added plus is the euphoria of intoxication that follows if you drink enough."

maybe down in mexico..

The next day was hangin' day, the sky was overcast and black,
Big Jim lay covered up, killed by a penknife in the back.
And Rosemary on the gallows, she didn't even blink,
The hangin' judge was sober, he hadn't had a drink.
The only person on the scene missin' was the Jack of Hearts.

Let me at that piece of vic !

newfound respect for the equine racers

it was the longest mile, on a brutally hot day and an equally difficult surface, 100 brave souls and 1 pony, attacked the sacred oval of Monmouth Park, the oval of champins, the host of Haskell Heros throughout the years. I was afraid at first that the pony had laurangitis, but she was just a little horse, these photos are the only pieces of evidence that survived the day.thankfully there was plenty of cold beer at the finish line and throughout the day , and the Koots provided the soundtrack for a splendid day.

The Monmouth Mile

Tomorrow , in the first ever Monmouth Mile, watch "El Gato" live on TVG (Tracksdie Live) Television as I gallop with greatness around the sacred oval that is "Monmouth Park".

that's right friends, yours truly will be part of a select few to partake in the inaugural footrace around the horsey track , all to raise money for retired thoroughbreds, hows that for givin back.....seriously it is a very good cause , it is the Re-Run Foundation and they care for elderly racehorses and allow them to live out their golden years with dignity, I know we are in a recession, but if you can spare a few sheckles you will probably sleep better for it.

I will certainly be choked with emotion as I circle the hallowed ground , I will wear my BARBARO T-Shirt and wonder what could have been if that glorious Horse had lived to participate in the Haskell......check back here Monday for a full report and hopefully some nice snapshots.

"Squeaky's in Prison....I'm in Misery
That Little Red Riding Hood, she really does it for me"

can miss krenwinkle be far behind ?

for the record....squeaky just wanted to talk to Ford about the plight of California's Redwood Trees, if she really wanted to kill him she would have....maybe her, obama and Fords ghost can meet for a beer and hash this out.....obama can apologize for the malicous prosecution of Bugliosi and maybe even pardon Charley, Tex and Patricia,,,

HOUSTON — The Charles Manson follower convicted of attempting to assassinate President Gerald Ford is set to be released from a federal prison in Texas later this month after serving more than 30 years behind bars.

Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was a 26-year-old disciple of the cult murderer Manson when she aimed a semiautomatic .45- caliber pistol at Ford in September 1975 in Sacramento, Calif. Secret Service agents grabbed her and Ford was unhurt.

Fromme, now 60, is scheduled to be released on parole from the Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth on Aug. 16, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the court-appointed attorney who represented her at trial.

Fromme, who got a life term, became the first person sentenced under a special federal law covering assaults on U.S. presidents, a statute enacted after the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Ford was walking to the California State Capitol from his hotel when Fromme pushed through the crowd, drew the pistol from a holster on her thigh and pointed it at the president as he shook hands with well-wishers. She was restrained by Secret Service agents who wrested the gun away from her and led the president to safety.

It was unclear why Fromme was at Carswell, a facility that specializes in providing medical and mental health services to female offenders. A spokeswoman for the bureau of prisons did not immediately return a phone call Wednesday seeking comment.

"I knew some day she would be released," said John Virga, the Sacramento attorney who handled her trial.

Fromme served time in at least two other facilities before Carswell.

She escaped from a female prison in Alderson, W.Va., on Dec. 23, 1987, and was recaptured about two miles away on Christmas Day after a massive search. She was sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison for the escape.

Fromme had said she escaped from prison to be closer to Manson.

Manson is serving a life term in San Quentin in California for the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and eight others. Fromme, one of his "family" of followers, was not implicated in those attacks.
