i remember hanging out in Freds' Candy store and watching friends pump quarters into the video games.....asteroids...or some race car game and later days ms. pacman.....and i remember thinking that i would rather have an egg cream and a Hot Pretzel instead of wasting my money on video stupidity.

crime & punishment......but what if there is no punishment ?  what kind of society will we have when there are no consequences for your actions? where every life except your own is devalued and disregarded?

i'm not a gamer, but i do remember the brief uproar with the video game Grand Theft Auto...in their self description they said the "game" was brimming with gang violence, nudity, extremely coarse language, and drug and alcohol abuse. ..and i remember the old fuddy duddy warning that the game would have long lasting negative impacts on our youth.....and i remember the counter argument that it's just a game.....and it was the parents' responsibility to teach their children right from wrong......but what if there are no parents present in the home....or a home where the "adults" are substance abusers and or criminals themselves......who then should teach little juany that it's just a game, and you can't behave like this on the streets ?

what level of blatant disregard for human life drives another human to fire a bullet into the head of a 14 year old child? what action deserved this reaction ?  a dispute over Money, girls, gang colors, disrespect or fill in the blank ?

in a race to the bottom we seem to be saying how low can you go on a daily basis. I don't have any answers today......just a lot of questions.......and prayers for Little Owen and his extended family.
