As i watch the long-range forecast on the chucklehead news, i can't help but think this historic snow drought will come to an end in glorious fashion with a historic blizzard on Sweater Nite (aka Presidents weekend) Fear not, we have drank in the snow before and will not be deterred. I spent more than a few afternoons of a great white out with Dano drinking in the Bean Post and gazing out onto 5th ave and watching the good people of Bayridge struggle with crossing the snow drifts of 5th ave. Something about a storm that brings out the inner drinker in everyone, I remember i was home on leave when Hurricane Gloria came ashore in 1985....spent the day in Slapsticks ...bar was packed.....jukebox was a big hit with songs like Dylans' Hurricane & Hard Rain, Creedence who'll stop the rain and have you ever seen rain, Neils Like a Hurricane, G-L-O-R-I-A multiple versions....(.even Laura Branigans silly song got a rebirth) . So we will have to get kraken with a snowstorm play list.
the power of commercials......i was grocery shopping on Sunday for the 1st time in a year and i was overcome with the urge to buy a box of Cheese-Its ....not because i was crazing them, but because they have the best commercial on TV....the one with the football coach in the locker room talking to a bunch of cheese wheels in shoulder pads and he's giving a pep talk before the big game....my favorite is the guy who screams " I woke up feeling the cheesiest coach" ....not sure if they give Oscars to commericals , but whoever wrote that one deserves a statue.
Joe Biden yesterday called Republicans "Fiscally Demented" ......not sure if this brain dead puppet should be throwing the D word around. He went on to use a speech honoring MLK to make a tired old joke about insurrectionists needing more firepower than an AR-15 if they want to overrun the govt. (Because Joe has an army and he will win...ha ha, get it ? it's so funny to joke about civil war, such a great unifier and chief.)
Big Govt loves to vilify the private sector but the facts are the facts. I am required to take lengthy training twice a year on how to first classify every internal document ( Classified, Confidential, Public etc etc) and more importantly how to handle or dispose of these documents. We also fire people in the private sector for lying on a resume or application for employment and we are still subject to random urinalysis test to make sure we are not high on drugs while we handle your retirement savings.
horrible story with a silver lining. A real problem at the border that is not getting any attention. These poor illegal immigrants crawling to America in search of a hotel and free Wi-Fi, are also leaving their dogs at the border. These huddled masses that just want to have sex in the stairways of a Manhattan hotel and throw out mayor adams turkey sandwiches have zero compassion for their canine companions. Thankfully an American hero has launched Big Dog Ranch Rescue and they are actively feeding, caring for and finding home for these beloved pooches. America is a beacon and there is still more good than evil in the heart of the nation....the light still outshines the dark , but for how long ?
