this kid really makes things happen out there ( Phil Rizzuto on Paradise by the dashboard light)
Rest in Peace to the one and only Meat Loaf....Michael Lee Aday dead at 74.....his album Bat out of Hell took the nation by storm in 1977 ...and if you were alive back then it probably never really left your subconscious.....hard to explain.....but wherever you were in all the years since...if you heard a clip of one of those songs you immediately recognized who it was and you were probably transported back in time to that crazy period.......still have the full album on my ipod shuffle.....still brings a smile to hear Paradise and Rizzuto.....classic stuff.
today we just have some observations from the Bean Post window.
perhaps an unintended consequence of the NCAA transfer portal, is that now when a coach jumps from learning institution A to learning institution B , he can also bring his top recruits.....such is the case with Lincoln Riley ....he abruptly left Oklahoma to accept the USC job and now most of his top players are joining him on the coast.......i complained for years that it wasn't fair that a player who chose a school based on their head coach , would have to sit out a full year if the coach left and the player wanted to transfer for any reason ( perhaps the incoming coach ran a different offense and the player didn't really fit in) and i still stand by that.....but perhaps the rule sb tweaked.....i think a coach who leaves a school while still under contract should have to sit out a year ...but we know that will never happen....so maybe his players at the old school should be allowed to transfer anywhere except the new school that he is coaching at.....in other words....all those Sooner recruits could tfr anywhere BUT USC.....i think USC has crossed a dangerous line......now any big name school that is struggling on the gridiron can target any coach, anywhere, and if they dangle enough cash they can hire him away from a competitor and hopefully bring half his recruiting class with him.........if it costs 100 million to land a Saban.....we'll just raise tuition, ticket prices, etc etc to recoup that money.....all while their tenured professors lecture the real students of the horrors of Capitalism and privilege.
staying with Football for a moment.....Dak Prescott, who is a finalist for the Walter Payton Humanitarian award; complained about the Cowboy fans throwing trash at his teamates as they exited the field after a home playoff loss to the 49ers....when told the fans were actually throwing debris at the referees he said......oh, well, props to them.........seemingly approving of the fans trying to injure the referees with bottles and other garbage.....i don't think Sir Walter Payton would approve....i sure hope Dak doesn't tarnish the award by winning this year.
President Biden...the Commander in Chief....the leader of the free world...gave a 2 hour press conference weds....im not a doctor , but it was scary......rambling, thought loss......anger, whispers, struggling to find words and then angrily bringing his own meandering diatribe to a sudden halt and culmination with stop gab phrases like ..."The Thing is"...."Listen"...."hey".....as if HE was interrupting a rambling mental patient....but there was no debate...it was him and him alone at the podium....the only one he was arguing with was the voices in his head.....they were too many miss steps to recapture them all.....for the record his entire administration was doing damage control yesterday, going on TV and the networks to clarify what he meant.
The biggest gem was when he seemed to say Putin has to invade the Ukraine.....and depending on the size of the incursion the US will or will not react accordingly.......our Nato allies were shocked....Russia laughed....and the Ukriane is left wondering if they should look elsewhere for an ally. ....and so yesterday while he was trying to project strength and contradict his comments from 22 hours ago.....he was aksed "Why are you waiting for Putin to make the first move" ? pretty fair question i would think.....but instead of answering he muttered into a hot mike " What a stupid Question".....and he wonders why his approval rating is sooo low.
The Reason sooooo many people hate the biden Administration is the same reason so many people felt the same way about Obama........they are arrogant and dismissive......and nothing makes the blood boil more than being dismissed.......Had the networks and the incoming Biden Administration at the very least reported on the election discrepancies and acknowledged that there were irregularities ....instead of dismissing any question about the process as sour grapes.......well Jan 6th would never had happened.......and then weds the President seemed to claim that the upcoming elections would not be legitimate.........grounds for impeachment ?
i don't know about you.......but it's 20 degrees.........i'm going to login for work and wait patiently for 11:00 ....the official start for Friday Happy Hour whilst working remote.......i'm gonna pour a generous glass of Jack Daniels Apple with a splash of diet Cranberry and put on BAT OUT OF HELL and thing about the good old days when only the bronx was burning....as opposed to the whole nation
